While I was looking for some more shots of the Soul Burner that I showed you in the previous post, I came across these, even greater shots, where you can see two range topping Souls, a Tomato-Red and Clear-White painted cars.
The exterior of the Soul looks impressive and unique, but what’s even more exciting is the interior, which seems to be really well laid out and quality built. The leather-wrapped steering-wheel seems light years ahead compared to steering-wheels we have used to see in Kias and the center dash looks absolutely beautiful. It has a very clean design and seems to be made of higher quality plastic materials.

Hmm….no H-grille??
September 1st, 2008 at 1:58 pm
The h-grille will be there, but most probably as an option. Check here: http://www.kia-world.net/index.php/2008/09/01/beautiful-kia-soul-burner-spotted-with-different-body-parts/

ooohhh the steering wheel looks CHUNKY… red leather seat piping as well but i have to take a look at the interior in person, cos some parts look kinda cheap. maybe its cos EVERYTHING IS FRAGGIN GRAY!!!!!!!!! SCREW YOU KIA…

Hey Pat, don’t worry. The Soul will also come with different interior colors- see the last image I have just added.
I have also seen an image with red-black leather seats, similar to Burner concept. Unfortunatelly I can’t find that image to show it to you.

I much prefer the horizontal air conditioning vent adjusters on the Soul, rather than the Hyundai style vertically aligned ones on the Forte.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:12 pm
the first of the four interior images shows seats with red outlines. and the red soul on top has got the camera for reversing. Can we expect all interior colours we’ve seen in Kias over the years all available on soul? hope so. it would be awesome! I dont care about the manual mode of the tranny now. its still a cool car. love it!

Settle down Patrick, I can assure you that there will be at least a black and a beige interior option to. There will (I REALLY HOPE) be a red interior option too. Actually, what would be really cool is a BLUE interior.

Two words: Dash Speaker!!
September 1st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
In Kia’s history, there has been red.blue, orange, black, beige and er… grey interiors. we might see all of’em on - I mean in soul…
September 1st, 2008 at 5:57 pm
4u??? 4WD???
September 1st, 2008 at 6:23 pm
kia has said there will NOT be a 4WD option.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:28 pm
i’m SO CONFUSED!!! the red one has a backup camera— CLEARLY… but where’s the screen when you look on the interior!?
September 1st, 2008 at 6:47 pm
when will I be able to purchase one in the state? and when will be able to see the hatch back, we can see the seats but how much space is in the back?
September 1st, 2008 at 6:51 pm

—JTZ—has a backup camera— CLEARLY… but where’s the screen when you look on the interior!?—
the screen might be embeded in the rear view mirror like mohave or behind that pop up cover under the centre speaker or that screen with the radio buttons is a colour LCD…

That wasn’t me talking but I didn’t expect the Soul to have luxury like that. How can you guys tell between the regular Soul and Soul Burner?
September 2nd, 2008 at 3:33 am
and the Hyundai/Kia-Haldex AWD???
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:55 am
again, NO AWD!
September 2nd, 2008 at 6:33 am
AWD on such a small vehicle is completely pointless. It is way too low to the ground, and the engine is not big enough. Imagine it like AWD on a tall Spectra/Cerato hatchback. It would bottom out the first time it drove off the road!
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:58 am
I didnt get what low to the ground has to do with it. porche sports cars are much lower and the got AWD. daihatsu terios has 4WD and only a 1.5L engine. soul has got a 1.6L.
AWD isnt for driving off-road. its for the road. its for tyres to get more traction at acceleration. although it could be used in those deep sand parking lots.

i think Manuel is correct in saying that the rear view cam will be displayed on the mirror… it makes complete sense. also, i dont think i would be rushing for that red interior just yet, cos it looks shiny as and its too much red… brown, please!!!!
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:33 am
Yeah, it should be a bit darker and less shiny like the oraange interior of sportage. I hope brown interior will be available.

whoa! there’s even a white interior. hey, thnks cerato. looks great. could get dirty faster but will look great while it lasts.
September 2nd, 2008 at 6:39 pm
i can’t get the link to work. & Greg, you’re confusing AWD with 4WD… AWD is what Subaru is known for. its also meant for the road to get the best grip, etc. 4WD is more for SUVs and more rugged use. so what you were saying with it being too low to the ground, etc. has nothing to do with AWD. 4WD, yes. AWD, no.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Truedat, joshlofty. I mean, the Suzuki SX4 crossover has AWD, in fact, its the lowest-priced AWD on the market. It has OK ground clearance but nothing that impressive, and yet it utilizes AWD properly. 4WD is what you have in mind, I think, Greg.
September 3rd, 2008 at 12:23 am
To me, it really doesn’t matter if this is 2WD or not because the SX4 has it and I only seen one on the road last year. What a waste of money from Suzuki.
September 3rd, 2008 at 6:55 am
right. I’ve seen just one same sx4 thrice but none other than that one. and now they get a sedan sx4. but it doesnt have AWD its got 4WD for some strange reason. as if its going off-road. theres a button inside with which you select between 4wd, 2wd and Auto. suzuki wastes a lot of money. and waste even more making three concepts to represent ONE production model [Kizashi] And they’ll make a fourth before lauching it!
.
AWD would be good on the soul!
September 4th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Umm…Suzuki rules the kei-car class in Japan, and that is saying something. I have a measure of respect for Suzuki’s smaller rigs but they seem to have a small quality-control chunk of trouble on their SUV’s, from reports on Edmunds.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:34 am
the SX4 sedan doesn’t come with AWD as an option. the SX4 “CUV” however has the AWD standard except for the 2009 model year in which it will also come STANDARD with a NAV. it’s going to be the cheapest car on the market standard with NAV. as for the # on the streets, i live in Dallas and i actually see very many of these little cars, both CUV & Sedan forms. i know someone with a CUV type and she loves it! on the flip side though, she traded in her 2005 Kia Spectra for it. uh-oh.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:03 am
wouldnt say much about the last bit. the 2005 spectra isnt much in front of a newer model. dont worry. Kia’s new cars will help.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:32 am
Very different side from Kia. Have to get used to it!
September 4th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
i’m just saying a lot of people are gunna think the same way. she never HATED her kia. it never broke down on her and it wasn’t a bad car at all. she was just bored by it. she says the SX4 is much more fun.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
gotta agree on ‘fun’. but forte is going to be even more fun than Sx4. but after having a bigger vehicle its difficult to go back to small ones. you get used to sitting higher. after getting sportage, sitting in my mazda6 makes me feel every thing around is gargantuan! thats why, we want soul over forte.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Well she traded down IMO. an SX4 competes with the Rio & Rio5, doesn’t it? where as the Spectra and Forenza compete, right?
September 4th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
click my name for more info on the Suzuki Navigation system. i just watched the embedded video and i’m not impressed. it looks KINDA cheesy.
September 4th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
whoa man! Thats something I’d love to have in my cars. So, er, how’s suzuki in quality…. period…. ah! who am I kidding! I’m not buying 3 year warranty cars. And it isnt as customizable as soul. besides I’m living UAE! And MUCH MUCH smaller in size compared to many countries.
September 4th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
JoshyLofty:
The Forenza doesn’t “compete” with anything else on the road. It’s basically a miserable ride. You’re mostly right though that based on car class, the Rio would be a more appropriate comparison to the SX4. From all I’ve heard and read though, the SX4 is actually a nice, fun driving little car.I’m hoping Suzuki can exterminate the Daewoos from its lineup (Forenza, Reno) and get some of their own cars in there like the Swift (which I’ve heard a *lot* of good things about.
September 5th, 2008 at 1:39 am
I 100% agree with you on that, Bancho. LLN reports tho that Suzuki itself has said they’re bringing the Swift BACK to America so thats good. I’m not currently interested in it or anything but i do have some respect for Suzuki. The cars THEY actually build are really good fun little cars. Like the car in question, the SX4 is a fun little car and Car&Driver reports is one of the most solidly built cars on the road today.
September 5th, 2008 at 10:01 am
need to compare soul and Sx4. who’s better?
September 6th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
When the Suzuki SX4 crossover came out I was seriously contemplating buying one. I still love the SX4, the SX4 sedan not as much. But I definitely respect Suzuki in their building of small cars. Hard to beat the Kia Soul, though, Boris, in that class of rigs. Nice looking ride and it should perform well, I just wouldn’t expect fantastic gas mileage.
