But I still dont get it. is the VG an opirus replacement or is it “Kia’s Genesis”? VG looks like an E-seg like genesis and opirus is a D-segment.

What’s up with that ugly edge thing? When I’m watching a video featuring a nice looking new Kia, the last thing I want to see is the 3rd ugliest vehicle in the world!

    You mean Scion right?:)
I think it’s there for one reason: Kia is targeting Scion buyers/owners and it’s there to compare the cars against each other…I guess.

I still can’t believe the Sorento is still more than 12 months from being released. From many years working in the motor industry a vehicle at this stage of development would only be months away from being on the road and released for manufacture, but Kia may have a huge lead time. Are we sure this vehicle will only built at the Georgia plant in the US, as has been suggested.

I don’t think Sorento is that far away. I think it will debut at Geneva motor show, early next year, but I might be wrong.

Its production is set to start next November. Why can’t Kia release anything new at the NAIAS?? That and Chicago are the only 2 that I can actually afford to attend and still save to buy my loaded Forte!! My fund so far is $9,301.43 and counting.

So that’s November 2008 is it?? In Korea then is it??

It is disappointing that these are still a while away from being avaliable to purchase. I just hope that Kia don’t release them too late and fall short of the competition by that time.

well testing is important for certification. Cars cant sell without certification [nothing can].
    .
thats why A380 launch was delayed two years cuz of problems while testing and they didnt get certification for that two years.
Anyway, the camo covers becoming lighter on XM means it will be only a few months for launch.
Does anyone think it will still be called sorento?

well we now know who all kia plans to compete with on each of the models. the G37 coupe for the genesis coupe, the xB for the Sould, the Malibu for the mystery kia, the Edge/Highlander for the Sorento!

is mystery Kia the VG? or do you mean unknown/soon to come?

Greg, save your money for your Forte Koup and ditch going to the Auto Shows. You can read about the Auto Shows on here, man!

I know, but It’s not the same! I thought that the Kee looked awful until I saw it in person! Plus, it only costs about $150 for tickets, gas, hotel, and food.

  18. Bryan Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 5:17 am

That isn’t really that bad for travel/accommodation costs, true. I know, them Auto Shows are fun!

And I had almost forgot about the Kia Kee Coupe! Anyone heard anything lately about the Kia Kee?

it was a concept. just to show, where Kia is headed and what we should expect in future Kias. Concepts dont remain the big buzz for long unless they accidently blow up. remember the crash when it was going to a motorshow in U.S? talks about kee were dying down then but after the crash, kee was all over the web again.

I remember the crash well. The Kee is a concept that a certain chunk of the public was rather excited about, though, including me-self.

Why are they testing a Chevy Malibu with the VG? The Malibu competes with the Optima. I see the VG as a Maxima, Avalon, Taurus, and even an Acura TL competitor. These pics and videos of it with the Malibu confuse me… is this replacing the Optima?

Same with the new Sorrento… what is the Rav-4 doing there. They should have a Highlander or better yet a Murano there as those are more in its class.
