It has been a while since we last saw the spy shots of the small Kia MPV that was spotted several times before, but today, we have more images for you. This time, the lime green coated prototype was spied somewhere in France during some more testing sessions. Though the car is still wrapped in camouflage, some new elements, such as Kia’s new corporate grille and larger part of front bumper, have peeked out.

The online media reports suggest that the forthcoming “cee’d plus” mini MPV closely relates to cee’d hatchback, but sources close to Kia told us this is actually the Soul based minivan, built on Hyundai-Kia’s new, B-class, platform that will soon bring us several new small cars, including next generation Rio and Hyundai i20.

Set to go on sale in 2009, the “cee’d plus” will compete against Opel Meriva, Renault Modus, Nissan Note and Citroen’s yet to come C3 Picasso. No doubtly, we can expect to see a fierce battle for customers in the popular mini MPV market. [More images @ GlobalMotors]

    Looks like a Spectra5.

Well, it doesn’t seem to look like spectra5 to me. It’ more Ford C-max like although it’s smaller.

Strange lay-out for a french tag. Should end with 2 numbers not three! (they indicate the “departement”)

the cee’d plus will have the same steering wheel as the soul and forte. I’m starting to doubt its a cee’d and that its only for europe. Has Kia confirmed that they will introduce another car solely for europe? cuz if it was a cee’d family addition, it would have the steering and certain things resembling the cee’d's. it really does remind me of ford c-max more than spectra5 cuz the spectra’s face is not as curved as this one.

click on my name. there’s a pic where you can see a little of the interior.

Oh, there it is, the same steering wheel as in Soul! But better looking because of the metallic-silver plastic.

Seems like Kia is developing another winner that will bring more young people (families) to the brand.

I too like it cuz of the 2-tone effect it produces.

wow i absolutely love it! it has that same tall but planted look that the soul has – an extremely solid stance. do you think this is a competitor for the Chevy Beat type of car or something a bit bigger???

I dont see resemblence to the xanita cuz first of all, xany is a sedan and cee’d plus is a mini-CUV

why do they tease me with this gorgeous lime green color!?

  16. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 27th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

er… maybe so that people notice it and come to know its a Kia or maybe so that spy photographers notice it and take pics so they get the fans excited…… its a sensible question. they did the same with forte and now that colour isnt available. maybe thats for the best in forte’s case cuz I dont think that colour would suit a sporty car. but there are greater chances of this car having the green option as it looks great on the nippy thing. this isnt the green from the kee anyway. its just a bright green. the green latte colour on soul has more resemblence to kee green.

Ok… Why is this ugly green thing getting skylight and not the Soul?

  18. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 27th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

remember that Kia said they will offer new stuff every 6 months on soul? and besides the soul was already in testing stage before they could think of that skylight. these models were design a little later after soul and mohave, hence it [soul] lacks the skylight. but we can still hope it gets that as an option [as the soul is going to have a long list of options compared to other models] or that its introduced later as they add things every 6 months.

    .
We can expect skylight on soul as the Diva concept had a skylight.

This mini MPV doesn’t look like a regular minivan. It has really low roof for such kind of vehicle and looking at it’s eggy shape, it reminds me of Fiat 500.

I thought its the class of the Golf PLUS. thats not a mini-MPV, is it?

  24. himi Says:

    August 28th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

You can not define the Golf plus actually. The real midsize VW MPV, based on golf, is the Touran with seven seats, with the third row folds down. The Golf plus is more like a cross model, between a MPV and station wagon. And it only has five seats.
But it’s larger than “cee’d plus” by about 25cm.

  25. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 28th, 2008 at 10:45 pm

25cm doesnt make much difference… er, does it? I’ve seen the Golf +. its does have the… umm… look of a mini mpv and the cee’d plus is sorta the same thing.
Is chevy beat gonna be a mini-mpv too or a soul competitor?

How popular are ugly vans like this in Europe?

  27. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 1:26 am

must be quiet popular. Kia wouldnt waste their money on something that won’t help them. ………….. Would they? hmm!

  28. himi Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 9:52 am

You find it ugly because of the color or shape JTZ? These vehicles are gaining on popularity. Two years ago, you could find only Opel Meriva, Renault Modus and Nissan Note in this segment. But lots of new minivan models are planned.

    -
Citroen will soon launch C3 Picasso: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/radical_citroen_c3_picasso_mini_mpv_revealed.html

-Kia will bring the “cee’d plus”
-Next gen Opel Meriva is almost here too: http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080710.005/new-opel-meriva-closest-spy-photos-yet

Ford is rumoured to be developing the same sized minivan on Fiesta platform.
VW will also bring it’s Polo sized minivan
And Peugot 2007 will come in sight very soon.

So, you have plenty of minivans that are coming to the market, and good thing here is, that Kia will be among first to show it’s B-class minivan contender.

  29. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 10:36 am

is the Chevy beat also a mini-mpv?

  30. JTZ (Jamayl) Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Wow, I didn’t know how popular such a model was in Europe. U.S. doesn’t have any of these models in the B segment class mpv. I guess it’s something I got to get used to. uhhhh alll of those are unattractive to me. But if they are popular that’s what really matters…right? Yeah that Chevy is a rival to this mpv. 5 door Hatches and 3 doors seem to catch on quicker over there than over in N. America too.

  31. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 10:11 pm

why do you think the mohave isnt sold there and cee’d is only reseved for europe. europeans prefer hatches for the smaller roads like in france. Thats why european brands make their hatches more stylish and American brands concentrate on 4x4s but now seem to be shifting to small sedans.
