When Kia released the first batch of official images of it’s new Soul crossover, we really missed a small detail on it’s front fascia. Most of us, Kia fans, were disappointed to see production Soul model not having the H-grille. But surprisingly, these latest images reveal that Kia decided to put it back on the Soul. We are not sure if the grille will come standard or optionally, as an accessory, but at least it’s there again! And it gives the Soul a lot more of character and makes it’s face much prettier to look at!

Buyers will be able to select between several different colors. Some of them are definitely striking and surprisingly attractive. The eleven-color palette includes Green Tea Latte, Cocktail Orange, Java Brown, Tomato Red, Blue Stone, and Moonlight Blue. Other colors offered are Black Soul, Clear White, Titanium Silver,Vanilla Shake and Bright Silver. You can see most of them below, in our Soul gallery. We have been told that new color options will be added every six to twelve months, therefore you can expect to see some other funky coatings on the Soul in the future.

Kia Motors plans to officially unveil the Soul crossover at the Paris Auto Show in October. Production is due to start in South Korea in September. It will first go on sale in Europe and should arrive to the States by April next year. Pricing details are yet to be announced.

UPDATE: More Soul images added, after the jump!

I AM SO GLAD ABOUT THAT!!! I was liking the production Soul with the H grille; however, I felt a little teased after Kia released the production version without the grille. That grille makes the cuv more well sporty or unique.

I am glad Kia has stepped up on the colors. That is one of my biggest complaints from customers are that they do not offer enough colors. I hope some of these colors progress to other car makes in the future.

off topic- what sites are the best ones to buy aftermarket stuff for my Optima? I have seen kia-fx and koreanautoimports so far. I am buying a body kit for my EX Optima. I had a hit and run and I have to fix my front bumper. It is going to cost like $500 to fix it so I figure it gives me the chance to get a kit for my car.

You think they also changed their mind about adding skylight? I mean if the mini van is going to have it, why not place skylight into this like the Diva?

  5. colby Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 10:24 pm

probly have. It looked great but It probly wasn’t cost effective.

  6. himi Says:

About the skylight…won’t be there, but at least it will have the ordinary sunroof.

Soul isn’t my cup of tea, and is the ugliest Kia I have seen, but It is really unique and there is a market for unique customizable vehicles, and Soul is there for it. I really like that. I like the side profile too. Really, the only part of it I don’t like is the back.

i’ll take my green tea latte to go, please!

  9. himi Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

I can not decide between the green tea and orange. Looks good in other colors too, but I would choose green, orange, or perhaps white one.

It really looks interesting with these 18 inch alloys and wheels!

  10. JoshyLofty Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 10:39 pm

is that a backup camera possibly i see under the logo on the back?

  11. brenspin Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

Awesome! I was hoping for an attractive brown and orange color option. Those right now would be first choices. I also like the moonlight blue and tomato red.

  12. himi Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 10:41 pm

Yeah, it could be. It’s the first time that I see this little thing below the logo!

Hey did any of you notice the reversing camera on the hatch in the last pic?

  14. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

O well, guess other posts came up by the time I read the whole thing. Anyway, I like the black and the orange.
    .
So, I’ll have and orange one with the 18″ and… hey, Any interior images [official ones?] my customising is postponned till I get the option list.
BTW, The H-grille shouldnt be optional. The common man wouldnt think about customisisng a grille… It has to be standard. All the 2009 optimas I’ve seen at the yard have the H-grille means its standard on those at least. It just HAS to be standard.

I have some new interior shots also, but those are not official. I can publish them tomorrow. Wondering when Kia will let us see inside the Soul. I believe it rocks just as Forte does. I hope the interior stays very close to the Burner, Diva and Searcher interiors.

just tell me one thing. doest it have a manu-matic shifter?

  17. JoshyLofty Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 11:05 pm

himi… POST THE IMAGES NOW!!! curious minds are DYING to know what the inside looks like! If that IS a backup camera that means it has a Nav & thats all i cared about other than having green as an optional color & i got that wish… *fingers crossed*

  18. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 11:09 pm

hope what you say is true Joshy and not just a bonus for koreans but we can keep our hopes high after seeing that optima and borrego/mohave in the int’l mart have got what the koreans have got.

  19. JTZ Says:

    August 25th, 2008 at 11:24 pm

I’ll pick white, blue and black. So you have pictures of the interior huh Himi? Well don’t forget you said tomorrow (8/26/08). I’ll be waiting.

  22. Greg Says:

I was at Williams Kia today. “Where the Kias go far as the eye can see” They have 17 Borregos there, and I must say, the Borrego orange looks much better in person.

  23. PhilP10 Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 8:26 am

I like the Java Brown and Moonlight Blue. I believe Java Brown is the color of that one we saw the rear corner shot of awhile ago. They said eleven colors so I want to see if Titanium Silver is actually gray(not silver), another color I like on cars.

Looking forward to the interior pics..

  24. Patrick Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 9:19 am

wow java brown looks surprisingly kik azz!!! love how the overhangs are so tiny and it looks so dang solid!

Colby - try asking over at streetkiaz.com… i heard that its pretty active and have lots of ppl with project cars… good luck and keep us posted if you do something!

  25. himi Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 9:23 am

Correct PhilP10, we have seen brown one. It was the image that showed the rear end of the Soul for the first time, and a few days back you could also see a Tomato Red Soul with Burner vinyls on the body.

  26. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 10:23 am

phil10, the titanium silver is more of a grey. If you click on my name, you will be linked to an earlier post on KW in which you will see the colour. its the 4th picture. if the link dont work. type this in the search box: Official Soul images hit the web along with engine details

  27. himi Says:

I have added another four images to the post. Now you can see all available colors for the Soul.

just tell me one thing. does the trany have a manual shift gate?

  29. himi Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

Well, I can not see it exactly, but think it does not have it, unfortunately. Because images were teken from the outside you can’t see much of the interior.

  30. Patrick Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

cool! titanium stone looks great too~

  31. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 1:43 pm

Aw, man. Even the forte gets manual shift capability. When was soul designed? 2005? it needs a manual shifter. My mazda is more than 4 years old and is gonna be sold before it becomes 5 yrs. thats when we’ll need a new car and it has to be soul. I really dont like sedans for manning in dubai’s crowded parking lots.

  32. colby Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 2:41 pm

I will post my car once it is done. I am adding a body kit, rear window spoiler, eye lids, and I am changing the badges to Lotze badges and taking off the Optima EX V6 badges, also tinting the windows. My car is black on black. Also lowering the vehicle with new springs.

i don’t think there is an interior . You just sit on a bucket ….. 3-5-and 10 gallon for proper height adjustment….

  38. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 8:25 pm

I dont think even the first automobile had buckets to sit on. LOL :D

  39. Greg Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm

I guess it’s better than sitting on a 55 gallon drum!

  40. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 26th, 2008 at 8:47 pm

OK, so I went back all the way to the post where the burner test drive and followed the link to auto express which had interior pix of the concepts. the burner had a manual trany but the diva and searcher had auto tranies with no manual. just P-R-N-D-2-1. :(

  41. Ratdaddy Says:

  43. colby Says:

    August 27th, 2008 at 3:18 pm

I wanted to try to find another site besides koreanautoimports that sells the fluxion. kia-fx sells the ixion for $600 less than koreanautoimport but I can not find the fluxion on anyother site

i did find out though that I can use any 2.7L V6 tiburon preformance parts to mod my engine….. maybe the warranty isn’t so important. I do work for a Kia dealer…..

  45. Bryan Says:

Definitely the Tomato Red for me and those 18″ shiny 5-spoke wheels, whoo-hoo!

  46. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

    August 29th, 2008 at 11:27 am

I knew you’d take red. I still cant choose. I like the red but this new orange sounds funky. I like cocktail juice though. maybe since its new colour, i’ll like that… thats MY option. My parents will probably take black or brown.

I like the Orange 2nd best and the Green Tea 3rd, for a little more information. The Green Tea would look great on a flash-funk rig like the Kia Soul. More great new designs from Kia and that is just part of the reason that Mitsubishi and Kia are my two favorite carmakers anywhere at any time, gentlemen, in the world. A generous Warranty doesn’t hurt, either.

  49. K-Sport (Boris) Says:

Has anyone heard if the diesel will be available in the US?

  53. Ksport(Boris) Says:

    September 18th, 2008 at 12:53 pm

no way! US deisel rules are very strict.

  54. Greg Says:

    September 18th, 2008 at 2:08 pm

They say 2010, but we’ll see.

  55. Ksport(Boris) Says:

    September 18th, 2008 at 2:41 pm

When ever did Kia say that soul is getting a diesel in US? Soul is only getting the petrol ones in US.
you might be confused for the Borrego diesel or you didnt see which article this is.

  56. Leslie Says:

    December 29th, 2008 at 1:36 am

My son & I looked at the Soul yesterday & that was a diesel — of course it was at the dealership & the salesman just said they (the soul) would be available sometime in March. I’m looking forward as right now I drive a Chevy HHR & have been having problems (its a 2008, purchased as a demo just a few months ago). The first HHR(2006)we had was just great & I loved it never had problems with it & I hate to say this but I have really been sorry that I traded in the 2006 for the 2008, but I am looking forward to test driving the Soul & no doubt, trading in the 2008 HHR.

  57. Greg Says:

    December 29th, 2008 at 11:34 am

Well, the Soul that you saw was for the Korean market, and will eventually go back to S. Korea to be sold at a dealership. That diesel engine does not stand up to US emissions standards, so the Soul will not come with a diesel engine until it gets the 2.0L version of Kia’s new diesel engines that stand up to US emissions standards. Look for the new diesel in the new Sorento at the end of 2009.

  58. Bornloser Says:

    December 29th, 2008 at 1:49 pm

I think the Sorento will not come with a 2.0Diesel, I certainly hope not as I cannot imagine a 2.0 having enough torque!
There is no need for a 2.0 Diesel soul as the 1.6 is fine (and has lower emissions than any 2.0 diesel!).

  59. Greg Says:

    December 29th, 2008 at 3:01 pm

I said the 2.0 VERSION. The Sorento will have a 2.2 diesel with more power and torque than the current 2.5 diesel. It will also meet US emissions standards.
