This is a very cool video where Kia’s chief designer Peter Schreyer shows the all-new Forte from different points of view. He talks about the importance of the car design and explains the most exciting exterior and interior elements that were implemented on the car.

I have looked around on the web for some other videos and found a short video preview from launching ceremony. Hit the jump to watch it.

Again, really looks like a cool car - with nice design elements!! I`m not too happy with those who say this car stels design elements from Acura and Misubishi but—- what can you do? By the way himi, do you have anything on probable exterior color choices? Kia has been rather limited in color variety to this point in time.

Mitsubishi only wishes to have the design elements of this car. Forte looks more european than anything else.

It reall looks great, but I was wondering how would you, Kia fans, compare it to Chervolet Cruzte!?
Yes I can show you the image of different colors avaliable at Forte. Will post an image tomorrow…

It’s easy, the Forte is reality while the Cruze is currently vapor.

Judging strictly on the images and info released to date, the Cruze looks awkward with the signature Chevy grill and the ugly black panel blanks in the C-pillar to carry the window line back. The interior of the Cruze looks ok but the images there are sparse compared to what’s been released for the Forte. Beyond the various images that have been released for the Cruze there is just a lot of the same hype that accompanied the Cobalt prior to its release. The Cobalt realized none of the promises and currently sells due to its fuel efficient nature relative to the rest of Chevy’s lineup. To be honest, I see a lot more new Spectras on the road in my neck of the woods than Cobalts.

I’m not impressed about the Chevy Cruze because of the greenhouse that lookse like the Sonata. Not even the Optima looks that much like the Sonata. I think the Cruze’s face is aggressive though. I still would pick the Forte. I aggree I think the language in the grille could have been more attractive. I like the bar that goes across though because it’s diffrent. I don’t like the greenhouse not only because it reminds me of the Optima’s cousin but also because that greenhouse to me means luxurious but the face looks sporty. I don’t know how to catigorize it in my mind looking like that. The Forte is a little bit more muscular while the Cruze seems to be well… fat. I don’t like fat cars. This is one of the reasons why I like Kia. Saturn’s are fat and the new Accord appears fat. What I really like about the Forte is that it isn’t that long. I’m sorry but by making cars bigger doesn’t really attract me just becase it offers more room. I need something about Forte’s size and sporty with features.

I really don’t like the look of the Cruz, the door handles are too low, the trademark Chevrolet badge isnt in the middle of the grille, its off towards to top, the grille itself is too big and looks bloated, rear end looks like a Civic, the headlights look mis-shaped and for the most part looks out of proportion. All of all an anal-retentive disaster.

The Forte on the other hand is in proportion, has much cleaner and sharper lines about it, a unique rear end, has a more european look about it, rather than the Cruz’s mixed up American/Japanese looks. As well I have no doubt that the Forte will have more refined engine choices, better ride quality, better fuel efficency, and more interior space, as well as more standard features.

2008 Accord has a huge ass! I actually fell over laughing whenI saw one the other day. I hadn’t seen one yet, and It looked so mediocre! WTF?? The interior ws awful, and the back end made me just laugh. The other day I saw the first Tucson I have ever seen.

I stated before that I think Honda has gone to “fad” design with their new models. The new civic looks like an egg and the accord I think is just ugly. Kia is doing the right thing with design by keeping it simple and powerful. In 5 years will the new civic still look cool or will it be like the PT cruiser in design where nobody in their right mind will buy one now. I am not comparing the civic to the cruiser, just the design elements…even look at the Honda Element. Most people will not even look at them and I never see a new one on the road.

The cruze is gonna sell hundreds of thousands, not because it is better than anything…The interior is way to cluttered. It will sell because it is a Chevy and in the US union workers only buy domestic cars per their union

Which is why I believe that Kia is smart for not trying to bring a truck to the US.

I despise those stupid union fanatics. I don’t see why the big three even keeps any operations in the USA anymore. Put the big three out of business. After that, there would be an overwhelming demand for foreign brands, who would build more factroies in the USA to keep up with the demand, repenishing jobs to factory workers, plus all of the parts plants, and employing thousands upon thousands of construction workers, and eventually pulling our economy out of this disastrous hell-hole we are living in right now! I can’t stand it when they say “But the profit stays in America!” NO IT DOESN’T! It goes directly down to Mexico to start more operations, bringing more illegal Mexicans into our country while shipping their products over, which is dipping into our tax resources when those illegals have children at our hospitals for free, get free welfare, and send their children to our schools, confusing the children who speak english causing more dropouts! I am not one bit racist, but come into our country legally, or get the f*** out!! Why are people so hypnotized by the big three?? Getting rid of then is the best thing we can do! Everytime I see a fusion, edge, or taurus, I just want to hit the owner so hard in the head!!! IF YOU DRIVE A FORD, GM, OR CHRYSLER VEHICLE, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HIGH TAXES!!!

Greg, you make a hella lotta great points there. Thank you for all of them. I work in a hospital in SE Arizona. It just floors me when these Hispanics look over at me and say “You don’t speak Spanish?” Hell no, I don’t! What’s more, do you speak English, is what I feel like asking them! The primary language in the U.S. is English. Everyone living here needs to learn it or ship out, not try and put English speaking Americans on the Mother of all Guilt Trips because they “Speaka no Hablo.” It’s nuts. And I agree with you-dump all of the Big Three domestic automakers. There’s no car I want from any of them, anyways. My Big Two are Mitsubishi and Kia. I can find any and every car I desire from those two automakers.

The Cruze will sell but why is it that Amercan C segment cars don’t seem to hold their value like foreign C segment cars? but how could buying an American car keep profit in America when cars like the Lacross has a German engine let alone design? Why are the “Big Three” going to Europe to better their engeins and cars? One thing I know is no one is going to do something for free, therefore, buying an American car a person just made German engineers richer. P.S. the big three uses Toyota Hybrids to do their cars. the Vibe is a Matrix and the Prism was a Corolla at the time.
