Sportage had its best month of the year with 4,035 units, a 6.2 percent increase over the same period last year, while Spectra had strong sales of 5,910 units. Rio and Optima both had increases of 22.1 percent and 49.1 percent respectively over the same period last year with 3,707 and 6,258 units sold.
“For the fourth month in a row Kia has achieved record sales, something rare for the auto industry in 2008. During this difficult economic time, consumers are looking for quality vehicles that are fuel efficient and offer great value – for this they are heading to Kia dealerships.” said Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG). The continuing increase in Optima sales in America is very impressive indeed ! Do you perhaps have any numbers showing what percentage of sales are “retail” and what percentage are “fleet” ? Just curious cause Kia fleet sales are sometimes a large percentage !

Williams Kia sells 150 Optimas per month! I wonder how well our Kia dealership will do once it’s open.

Yes conwelpic, I was on vacation and came back home on Friday. Thanks for posting automotive sales figures for Canada! I love to see Kia numbers increasing around the world. I’ll write a report for Kia sales tomorrow.

Grag,
We all know that the Optima is your favourite, and I’m sure that Williams would like to sell 150 Optima’s per month… But be reasonable! there are what;650 dealers in the US? 6200 optimas sold of which 150 by Williams so all the orther dealers in the US average out less tha 10 optimas a month? that is about 1500% above average!!!
Furthermore if we do a pro rata temporis calculation of the other models that would mean they sell 700 kia’s a month. This would mean that they have between 10 and 15 salespeople running around…
Get real!

Excuse me? You don’t believe me? Would you like to talk to the general manager? Some Kia dealerships that are grouped only sell 10 Kias per month total, so I don’t understand how it could not be believed. Williams employs 20 people full time, and sell, on average, 250 cars per month, Optima being the best seller. I give up with you.

Greg,
Nothing personnal off course, and I really did not intend to offend you, but you’re math just does not add up. Unless they are really REALLY bad in selling the other type of Kia’s… Since the optima is on average 21% of the sales volume, and 150 is actually 60% of 250…
And sure, I wouldlike to talk to him… being in Kia sales myself and Optima/Magentis doing really bad in Belgium I can certailnly learn something

Optima isn’t doing quite as well so far this month there. They’ve only sold 21 as of yesterday.
