Don’t know for parking camera,Martin. The rear camera is not very common on such small vehicles. Even more, it’s really rare and I don’t remember if I ever heard of any small crossover or car having it!? Perhaps Scion?…Well atleast you can always install it aftermarket.
But as much as I can see there are at least some parking sensors placed on on the bumper. If I can see correctly, there are three parking sensors at the rear bumper.
The 4WD would be a veeeeery nice option and I’m pretty sure it would make the Soul even more popular.

There is no chance of me ever buying this vehicle. The engine options suck. Yes, both engines are great engines. The problem is, even if the car is Rio5-sized, The MINIMUM amount of horses I would want is 175. It is very asinine that Kia wouldn’t give a car that’s geared for the younger generation the 2.4 engine. At least as an option! I’m sorry, but that is just stupid, and hurts all of my anticipation for the Soul. Once customers hear the engine options, they’ll get in their cars and peel away!

BTW, on a car that small, back-up camera is somewhat unneeded. I am taking drivers ed right now, and I find that the Spectra they use is very easy to paralell park. I’m so glad I am learning to drive in July. I will be able to drive our Optima September 15!
Hey Greg. As you may know already, there’s a 2.0L engine available in the Soul. And it’s been rumoured to be the Theta II engine, which will replace the old Beta engines.
The Theta 2 rises it’s power output near your hp expectations and still has better fuel economy than les powerful, 140hp Beta engine.
Check here how the ratings for Theta 2 engine go: http://www.kia-world.net/index.php/2007/11/28/kia-upgrades-lotze-sedan/

Ok, The only reason I mentioned the reaversing camera was because of its high rear window and possible poor rear view visibility, but if its got parking sensors then, yeah, there isn’t a need for a camera.

Greg – if ur just learning to drive, don’t criticize the car’s numbers. 145HP in a car this size is more than enough especially with the way its built. (I.E. VVT, etc.) I’m 21 and have been around cars all my life including exotics thanks to my father & active membership to the SCCA. I can also tell you there’s a lot of hype in the underground car-world over the Soul & the Koup. With my experience i’m more than happy with the outcome of this car. The 2.4L would just weigh the front of the car down and make it understeer more than any young person would ever want. Especially since its gunna have the 5 speed & such. Still hoping for the Nav & paddle shifters tho. any word?

Greg, um…. You aren’t the car’s target audience, and if you haven’t ehcked gas prices lately, you won’t be able to get high MPGs. Thanks for the, uh, comments.

The 2.4L engines aren’t selling well on the bigger mid size cars. The Civic, 1.8L is the size that’s selling because of the cost of fuel.
this car looks too small for me. like a Mini. not knocking it. but hope then offer a large hatch back as well.
maybe there is too much comp with the hatchback, Matrix, Mazda, Saturn, Pontiac, Rabbit etc. that were all the exact same as the Spectra5?

I like it but it would look better (sportier?) if it had red turn signals. As for horsepower, as long as it has more than 150 horses, I can’t complain. If it can get me more mpg than CRV and Scion and Nissan Cube, I don’t care as long as it keeps my a** away from the gas station. If I can fill up once a month or twice, I’m good.

I really don’t care about gas prices. Financially, I am very well off. I invested $500 in Kia stock in March. I have already made $750. Plus, I am selling computers and cars. I will be able to afford a loaded Koup in 2 years.

The Soul is larger than Rio (+10cm) and will be available with three different engines.

Hi there IgWar!
Unfortunately I still can’t answer your question about ground clearance of the Soul. If you look through the web, you’ll see there are very limited informations available regarding the Kia Soul. So far, Kia only released the news about three engine options and some info about it’s size. Nothing more.
As soon as more info is available, it will be put on the web at KIA-WORLD!!

hey. I really like this colour. I’d choose this over Koup cuz its higher and I dont feel very comfy in my 04 maz6 which is lower than most cars around. I feel much better in Sportage and Qualis. I just love this car and I just want it soon. It’s just right. JUST RIGHT for Me. And as far as engines go, I’m in for the 2.0L. I think it should have been 1.8 instead of 1.6 but looking at ratings of Kia’s engines in their new cars, I think it will do fine. I am so so so so so so so excited about this car, I just cant express my excitment when i see a new pic of soul. I feel like hugging it.

Well, at least it has chrome door handles.

Too bad it isn’t offered in an AWD or part time 4WD option. That would be nice to have here in the NW.
