WoW! The car looks expensive now. All these features… This Forte leaves the Spectra/Cerato light years behind. Its even got bluetooth, tiptronic tranny with manual mode and things that one would find in higher grade cars. So Now, We can clearly see that Kia is moving with the market and not following at the tail. Love it!!!
    Way to Go KIA!!!

This is the obviously the Korean version of the car. The U.S. version probably won’t have most of this stuff unless they really want to compete with uplevel versions the Mazda 3 or Mitsubishi Lancer, etc.

Hey, The Mohave/Borrego outside Korea seems to have got the gagets that the Koreans get. So I feel 80% sure that the forte will also get these gagets in the global market.

im sure the “gadgets” will remain. All the nicer competition has them. Kia is no fool & they’ll bring them over to compete with them. If the focus & cobalt can do it, why can’t they??? & i’m pissed the lime green isn’t on the list. :(

you never know, the US may get different color choices when it arrives. Like the Rondo has a couple more color choices for the over sea’s market.

I really like that there appears to be no badging other than the Kia emblems on the front and rear.

Bring that USA…with a diesel and you will be the man. great looking car and Kia will excel with products like that.

It is looking as sharp as a tack. Great new offering from Kia!

Diesel is outrageous in price. I just did the math, and if a 1.6 liter gasoline got 38 MPG and a 1.6 liter diesel got 48 MPG, with diesel prices the way they are, you would save money by geting the gasoline engine! There is really no point of having a diesel!!

Looks great, thanks for keeping us posted! How many gears does the auto trans have? 5?

We don’t know yet. More than likely it’ll get Optima’s wonderful, beautifully smooth 5 speed. Some people are hoping for a 6 speed. The 6 speed transmission is almost as big as the 1.6 that goes in the car! How could it possibly fit??? Our neighbor has a Nissan with CVT tranny. She is having lots of problems with it. Nissan’s P.O.S. warranty won’t cover it, and to get her car back to normal, it will cost 10,000+ dollars. She is pissed and taking the car back under lemon law. Knowing that, I never want to hear of a Kia with CVT!!!

I’m at an Internet cafe right now cuz our internet isnt working. I was looking fr plans of CVTs related to Kia on the web and found out that the Rio Hybrid will be the first Kia with a CVT.
And where ’s the Forte badge on that thng? Did they put pix of a prototype in the catlogue?

  16. Greg Says:

Even more reason to dislike the Rio!!!

The front fascia reminds me of Lancer. The interior looks to be very quality built, similar to the new Hyundai i30/Elantra wagon.

It really looks impressive, doesn’t it!? I really want to see how it competes against Lancer.

Thanks for the info about the transmission. Wow, I surprised the Nissan CVT is causing problems. Also I didn’t know there would be a Rio hybrid. Kia is on the move. My riding lawnmower has a CVT, lol, works great! I can’t see a huge tranny in a small car. Kia is going to have to produce a reliable car.

This looks so good! I hope the navi is available in the NA market.

Oh and Nissan’s CVT aren’t prone to problems I rarely hear of any problems and I know quite a few people with Nissans with CVTs.

  22. Greg Says:

    July 15th, 2008 at 12:22 pm

Even if problems aren’t common, when problems do happen they are almost triple the expense of a normal transmission.

  23. Bryan Says:

    July 15th, 2008 at 9:21 pm

Thing is, Nissan should step up and cover these people with Warranty fixes at no cost to the consumer. Kia would do that and Mitsubishi would, too! My ‘08 Lancer GTS’ CVT is working like a champ, BTW. I am surprised how easy it was to leave a 5-speed manual tranny behind and go to the CVT. Truth be told, most of the time I jut put it in ‘D’ and drive, gentlmen!
