A pair of spy images revealing the look of the 2010 Kia Sorento hit the web earlier today. The Sorento is not scheduled for replacement until summer of next year, but it has already been snapped completely undisguised, while sitting at the unidentified location.
These first pics show the new Sorento shape hints at Kue and KND-4 concepts we have seen at major auto shows last year. The front fascia features a “tiger nose”- large H-shapped grille, conceived by Peter Schreyer, Kia’s head of design, who is seeking to give the Kia brand a more distinct styling character.
As far as engines go, Sorento will get a pair of powerful V6 engines. The 3.8L Lambda engine should be available from the start, while the 250 horsepower diesel engine (already available in Kia Mohave) will be added to the range later. A less powerful and more fuel efficient 4-cylinder engine is also possible, since Hyundai had announced it’s next generation Santa Fe will be getting a brand new turbocharged powerplant.
Slated to go on sale in 2009, this will be the first product to be manufactured at Kia’s first North American assembly plant, located in West Point Georgia. [Source: Autoweek’s website]

The design meets my tast. Its just beutiful! I’m really starting to like Kia’s new design theme [angular headlight housing, 2-tone bumper etc]. I even like that 2-tone steer wheel. I hope the next gen sportage will look as good as this.

That looks raw!!!!!

Geez it doesn’t take much to excite you guys. I’d like to see a lot more yet, a decent side and rear view would be nice.

It looks like it is smiling at us!!! Mom says, “It’s cute……”.
July 11th, 2008 at 3:44 am
wow, that looks really good.

I see you like the exterior, but How about the interior? I find it much more interesting than the exterior design. I was hoping to see more kUE concept -like vehicle. It was such a wonderful design. Why the heck, did Kia spent money on it, when we know it’s not coming to production…

i say they went for something more along the lines of this:

Yes, Kia’s interiors look much better on the newer cars of Kia, namely, Soul, this sorento, Forte and Lotze. I And i even like the steering wheels of these new cars although the Lotze’s is still that same. They should use the steering of this 2010 sorento on Kia’s larger cars [Optima, Opirus, Carens, Carnival and sportage but not Mohave]. And the Soul’s steering wheel should be used on Picanto, Rio, Forte and cee’d [Forte already has it and the cee’d mini-MPV also has the same steering]

Why soul and borego don’t have large H-shapped grille??
July 11th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
The SOul is a special car and is made to stand out from the rest of the line-up. But, I feel that The soul will get the signature H-grille. I dont think an H-grille will suit borrego’s bold looks.

Hey, BTW, when is the Kia factory in the US scheduled to open?
July 11th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
The interior has been Scheyrerlized.
July 11th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
It it was just a little more to the right, I could see the side profile. Sooooo, I’mmmm just going to assume that its D pillar looks like the KND-4’s C- Pillar (on account it doesn’t have 4 doors so it’s not D pillar). It’s been Scheyerlized though.

I wonder how genuine these so-called “spy photos” are?? How hard would it have been to slip around the side and the rear of the vehicle in an obvious empty room. It’s probably a ploy by Kia to create some interest, it wouldn’t be the first time from a manufacturer and we’ll be drip feed more naked shots in the ensuing months. They’ve achieved what they want, because not only this site but many others on the web have taken up the story and have the very same photos.

It looks like a Ford Edge and Nissan Murano rival.
July 13th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
The edge is the ugliest piece of **** on the planet!

Funny, thats exactly that i was thinking yesterday when I was showing to it one of my cousins. If the guy could take pix of the interior, he was obviously in a good position to take a side view pic or a rear view. The interior pic might b real but the exterior pic could very much b a photoshop. We’ve all seen how good photoshop pros can be…
July 14th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
K-Sport: I don’t think that’s photoshoped because the cover is on the floor. What I was thinking was an employee, who works for Kia, must have taking a picture for someone who was very interested in this model. So the employee took the person’s cammra and took the picture for him/her to show just enough of the model but not to much. If you ask me, they shown the face of this a LOT quicker than when Borrego was in this stage. I’m very suprised at how much they allowed this to been seen inside and out. So I can’t really complain since car manufactores have the right not to show anything until reveal day at whatever autoshow.

So I was right, when we first saw spy shots of this, that wasn’t the original grille, This grille is the same grille that is on Forte and 09′ Optima.
