During the first quarter of this year, Kia became the second largest auto importer in Nigeria. The company has shipped 4.062 units of Kia vehicles to Nigeria, capturing a 14,7 percent market share in the country.

The report also shows that Toyota, the long sales time leader, still tops the list with more than 40 percent of Nigerian car market. In the first four months, Toyota sold 11,130 cars in Nigeria. As mentioned above, Kia now ranks second in the amount of vehicles sold in the country and is closely followed by Honda and Peugeot that took 9,03 and 5.64 percent market share respectively. That is awesome! The bad news is, there are 300,000,000 cars licensed in the USA, and less than 3,000,000 of them are Kias.

horrible, I own a kia optima 2007 model. The suspension is faulty and I had it checked at kia service station in lagos. I was charged for a new suspension, however there was no noticeable improvement. I took it back to them, and my car was with them for over a week, without their even checking it to find out what my complaints were. I am so disappointed that I am considering selling it off. The car is barely 18 months old, I only drive it to work, church and a few other places, I have kept to the recommended service and maintenance schedules. What do I do,am so distraught.

I’d say your best bet is to contact Kia directly rather than posting your complaint to a Kia oriented blog. Their site contains lcontact information that could be helpful in escalating your concerns to people who would have the auhority to look into your problem more deeply.

I bought KIA RIO couple of years back for my wife because it was cheep and I was in love with the design. After a year, I gave it to my Dad and bought a Sportage for my wife. Since last year, I have spent a fortune fixing the two cars the two cars here in Port Harcourt in Nigeria. The problems are endless. I would not recommend KIA for my enemy.

    Gents,

In fairness, KIA has brought a smile to the faces of many people who would never have dreamt of owning a new car. There is car without its problem. I bought a brand new honda in 2002 and after two months the engine knocked. The worst part is that the honda place was grossly irresponsible about it. Since then I have bought only KIAs and I have had rest of mind.

Since 1993, apart from BMW, I have owned and driven different brands of car, including Mercedes Benz. Though some cars are more prestigious and stronger than other, but from my experience 80% durability of every car depends on the user. I haven’t owned a KiA brand, but one thing I know for sure is “every car has its own peculiar problem”. I remember in the mid 90′s when I bought a NISSAN BLUEBIRD 2.0, some friends wished I bought a different brand as its engine is not strong. Believe me, after 2 years of shuttling between Port Harcourt and Warri (twice a month), the engine was still good as ever and the car was sold for about 142% of the purchased price. Thus, the durability of your car is in completely in your hands, it is not an issue of KIA.

Yeah, Nigerians like flashy cars a couple of my friends drive Kia and the like at first but the problem is that kia doesnt have second hand value, Its wears off easily esspecially on some nigerian road that are not good enough. Aparts from cities like Abuja in Nigeria, Kia products do not really survive on Nigerian road. I have not haerd of fairly used Kia. I understand they want to make cars available at a cheaper rate for people but they should consider safety and durability.

I am considering a kia Picanto and hope it serves my wife beyond it’s warranty period. I heard somehwere (does it include Nigeria) warranty period on Kia Picanto has risen to 5 years. I think toyota and the likes are just unnecessarily expensive.

i drive a 2007 optima.must confess she s a relatively elegant car. my candid observation s d fact that she s only a pleasure car to b driven around town.if you use her for frequent long distant voyage on nig roads,am afraid can not stand test of time-believe me. pls note that most of kia service outlets kia less about dia customers satisfaction but to unreasonable charges wt no gud outcome.
