As the new Kia Forte official debut looms closer, more and more images of undisguised cars have been turning up lately. Until now, the interior has been kept under wraps by Kia engineers, but from today, the interior of a Kia Forte is a secret no more!
Similar to the exterior, the interior of Kia Forte also speaks the whole new design language. Compared to Spectra, the interior of it’s successor seems light years ahead and closely mirrors the interiors of cee’d and Hyundai i30.
The center console seems well laid out but not revolutionary in any way. It looks modern and incorporates large HVAC knobs, vertical air vents and most of radio and climate controls.
Scheduled to hit U.S. dealers in mid-2009, the Forte is intended to do the battle with serious competitors such as Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer and the upcoming Mazda3 sedan.

I might start saving some money. This car looks great on the outside and the inside. And I would be purchasing one with a manual (read: equipped with a human foot operated clutch) transmission, but finally getting the “Sportmatic” transmission is a great upgrade. This also shows automatic climate control, which will be a nice upgrade. The only difference I see in the older pics (the bottom two) and the top set is the color of the radio face, being black on greenish yellow in the old and white on orange in the new. The gearshift knob in the old set looks like it could be the same as the one in the new set. My guess would be if this were a US production model it’d be the EX, the LX hasn’t had automatic climate control in any US vehicle.

I like the screen that looks like a navagation. Speaking of navagation, now the Spectra 5 is deleted right, will if that was replaced by the Soul and the Spectra 5 was above the sedan, then will the Soul have nav then? Just a thought.

It should have nav,

Sedona Man: I think the top and 3rd picture (unless you mean the dash picture as “top”) are of the same vehicle. The text and hazard triangle you seen on them are on the protective plastic film that is over the radio display, it’s removed during the PDI process. The screen looks to be the same size in all the pictures, and I’d guess it to be the size of an old cassette tape. I think if it got navigation it’d have a larger screen. All 3 of the new set of pictures appear to have the same radio set up (display and buttons), it’s the HVAC (climate control) controls that are different- the 1st and 3rd are probably the same vehicle (both show auto climate control), the 2nd being a different one (manual climate control). And the 4th picture (being 2 pictures in one image) is from one of the test mules. Also, in the 2nd picture, the only PDI plastic I see is on what is either the foot rest or brake pedal (bottom left corner, it’s white with a diagonal blue line, and a series of two black horizontal lines in vertical columns- the white and blue is the plastic, the black is the rubber pieces that help give your foot traction to stay in place). You can see the gas/ accelerator pedal in the top picture: it probably doesn’t have the PDI plastic on it, and it’s one horizontal line in a vertical column.

BTW, the steering wheel in the forte resembles that of the soul and cee’d plus. we might be seeing more of these steerings in Kia’s smaller cars.
