not the best off-road test. I want to see how good it is in hardcore off-roading. the ground clearence doesnt look too good for off-roading.
.
BTW, when will Kia have a CVT tranny? I was studying them yesterday and they are really interesting things and very useful!

Great video and I like how Edmunds know reality like me.

The 6 speed is CVT, I think.

if its a six speed trany, how can it be CVT? CVT dont have specific gears, but instead have two pulleys that change size to offer an infinate amount of ‘gears’. You should check out ‘HowStuffWorks.com’ to find out how CVT works.

Off-road and CVT don’t go together!

alright, then when will Kia have it in their cars? Nissan is using it on many of their cars [quashquai, murano, altima etc]

supposedly Nissan is the “only” company that has “mastered” the CVT which is why they’re sticking with it. Most other companies that’ve tried it have bad designs. Read that in Car&Driver.
I think the CVT is past technology already and the future of automatic transmissions are the double-clutch gearboxes. A golf 5 GTI has it . It’s called a DSG transmission. It’s also avaliable in other more prestigious models (BMW M3 or Porsche 911) and I heard Hyundai’s already working on this technology.

My dad’s semi uses a double clutch system. All manual semis in the USA require double clutching. You shift to put in and out of gear. Very simple. He wishes that Kia would introduce a semi. Hyundai makes semi-trailers, Kia should make the semi!
We just got our Borrego sales brochures in, and the back has the restyled Optima and restlyled Sportage as well as the Borrego in the picture. But no Soul…
