The Kia Mohave is named after Kia’s rigorous testing ground in the US desert which intrudes on four states and has Las Vegas as a glittering oasis in its centre. So in theory, having been honed in such a demanding environment – the desert, not Las Vegas – it should be perfectly suited to the Middle East.

At the press launch that Kia Motors held in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) last week, journalists were treated to a leisurely drive from the centre of Dubai out into the middle of the desert, where they hoped to be able to put Kia Mohave through it’s paces both on and off road. [read more]

Note: The source of the review is Automiddleeast, an online magazine providing news, reviews and car prices in the Middle East countries including Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and others. But since their site is unavailable to reach (at least for me) I posted an article at our Mohave forum – section Mohave reviews & test drives. The article was sent to me from our reader who lives in sunny Dubai. Thanks for the tip and pics, Boris!

Beutiful pictures himi. I love the pics in which SUVs leave a trail of sand as the turn [4th pic] The automideast link only works in MidEast. The pic with the camels is also a wallpaper worthy pic. :D

Airbags deploying: These vehicles must be preproduction models and those models always have minor defects.Aalthough I wouldn’t call deploying an airbag as a minor defect, it can still happen… So, as I said before, it must had been a preproduction model and I’m sure Kia already sorted (checked) the problem out. So there should be mo worries for potential future Mohave buyers.
Oh, almost forgot to tell this…I talked to a friend who works for Kia and he told me those are preproduction vehicles and get crushed soon after the test drive was completed.

What a pity, such a nice vehicle and it gets crushed! Kia should rather give it to me!!!:D he he

I have seen the Borego at Dubia’s KIA Service center, the back lights is much more fancier than the Mohave’s.

what does fancier than mohave mean? all mohaves have those “fancy” LED tail lights. For some odd reason its the Borrego that doesnt get them. Does Borrego get reversing camera with the display in the rear view mirror. c lick my name.

Does anyone have a photo / diagram of how the interior looks with the centre and rear seats folded down? Does it provide a flat levelled floor like the Kia Sorento?

  15. Ksport(Boris) Says:

yup it provides a flat floor. to see pix, go to kiamotors.com, click ‘Showroom’, click ‘SUV & MPV’, click ‘Mohave’, select ‘Style and Convenience’ from the list on the left and then click ‘Interior’.

The rear back-up camera in the rear view mirror is all dependant on what market your in. If i am informed properly the U.S. market has the camera and the navigation unit in the car. But in canada i know for a fact that we do not have the rear back up camera of the navigation system.

Um, your sir ain’t going to get this message from this blog. Why don’t u just call your dealership. It’s like if something was the matter with my Forte I’m going to go to this blog to see if I can get something done. No I call my dealership so I can make an appointment for them to look at it. Duh isn’t that common sense?
