Update: 2009 Kia Sportage details, information, official pictures…
It was announced that the new Sportage will go on sale in the UK as early as in August 2008. The latest Sportage model will make it’s official debut at the British Motor Show in July and will receive a number of subtle interior and exterior enhancements.
There will be a range of fresh colour schemes for the body and trim, plus a revised bumper in front and rear. Inside, a wide array of new instruments includes a hi-tech USB port for linking media devices to the stereo. And three distinct trims – XE, XS and Titan – will be made available by the firm.
Entry-level models will use the same 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines as before, but the flagship models will be powered by a 2.7-litre V6 petrol unit. A revised oil-burner with more power and lower emissions is also being readied. The range will cost from Ł14,000, with top versions at around Ł19,500. [Source: Autoexpress]

This is beautiful. I hope it will get the same design here. It looks sportier than ever before! the 2 tone bumper is exactly what I wanted. Marvelous!

Now all Sportage needs is a LWB version with 7 seats.
Even Terios has 7 seats option.

Looks a little bit like Carens. But Sportage has been changed this year. I think its too soon for a Facelift
May 20th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
That sportage “change” was only for europe. Europe’s sportages are made in europe itself. This facelift is expected to be global.
May 21st, 2008 at 1:36 am
but this is the korean-world version…the european version is this http://www.diariomotor.com/imagenes/kia_sportage_facelift_02.jpg
May 21st, 2008 at 2:50 pm
But why they show it on British Motor Show in July, when it is the korean version?
May 21st, 2008 at 3:42 pm
O ho! This facelift is for the global market. Koreans always get anything new from Kia before the global market gets it. So first it was facelifted and sold in Korea and now they’ll launch it globaly.
.
the koreans always get things first. eg: Borrego [Mohave], new Optima [lotze], new Picanto [Morning] and now this sportage.
May 21st, 2008 at 8:56 pm
It was in Korean showrooms in October of 2007!!
May 22nd, 2008 at 4:29 am
yeah. they get it very early.
May 31st, 2008 at 10:31 am
I would like to know when will be available this new model in europe? It will be early, or we must wait until 2009?
(I have intentions of buy a sportage v6, and the new one has many interesant changes ) I’m from Spain. Thanks.
“Koreans always get anything new from Kia before the global market gets it. So first it was facelifted and sold in Korea and now they’ll launch it globaly.”. K-sport (boris).
“Auto Express can reveal a replacement version for the car is ready to hit the road and is set to go on sale in the UK as early as August”. Himi.

I think I get what your trying to say in the last 2 paras Jorge.
.
Yes, UK is getting it in August but thats August 2008.
S, Korea got it in October of 2007. So u see; Korea always gets stuff first.
.
.
As for your question… I THINK the sportage ’09 should arrive by Nov or Dec.
May 31st, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Thanks for answer my question. I think I’ll wait until August, and maybe then, we have more information here in spain because in “Kia Spain” doesn’t know anything about this new model.
The price will be similar than the actual versions? I want Sportage 2.7 v6 ( the new one have 5 positions of automatic/secuential and more things that can become it to much expensive )
Thank you again Boris.

Congrats for your new Sportage. Did you get the same looking Sportage as the one seen on images above or still the “old version” of Sportage?
July 7th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
I’ve seen the 2009 sportage in Dubai. They were in the HKAG yard.

I just looked at a Chinese site for Kia (www.dyk.com.cn) and noticed it has a lot of pictures and video of the 2009 Sportage. It looks like the headlamps are similar to the current (2007-2008) Spectra/ Cerato, and the taillamps have only changed slightly- the indicator portion is now bigger and pushs into the tail/ brake lamps. I can’t read one bit of Chinese/ kanji/ hanji, whatever you call it, so I have no idea what any of the site says, except for where it uses the Western alphabet to show the name of a vehicle. ;| (That’s a face with a cocked eyebrow if there’s no emoticon).

This sportage is being selling in China and Korea for a long time now [since towards the end of last year]. And if you look through this blog’s older articles, you will find an article of the sportage of china and korea.
just type the following in the search box: “2008 Kia sportage (china)”. type it exactly as I’ve shown in the quotes with that brackets as well and you will find the china sportage article.

September 7th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Go to kia.com, and in the top right corner there should be a “Dealer Locator”. Type in your zip code, and it will give you the nearest dealership. Give them a call, and tell them to let you know when they have one.

Hi bbrian017, well done and I am glad you’re happy with your new Sportage.
One thing that amused me was your comment of, you were calling people that stuck to the speed limit on the highway”idiots”, or did you mean something else…..
November 17th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
I mean the old people that always do 10 under the speed limit omg! I’m also talking about the transport driver I like to pass them as well seeing they are pretty slow!
Alright I’ll join the forums!

What language is that? I can’t tell. What I CAN tell is that she has a Sportage 4WD, and she either has a problem with it or loves it.

hi,
i have an audi that is very old and am in need of a new car…i want an SUV but i have a low budget. i have done many research on low priced SUV and the hyhundi Tacson and the kia Sportage are the two model that fit my budget.
i also need a car that can do plenty of off roads as most of our roads in this country is full of potholes.
can any body advise me on a good choise?

performance-wise, both are the the same. They both have the same specifications. only difference is in design and dimenssions. so to decide, all you have to see is which design you like better. Kia has an industry leading warranty in US if you’re from there.

Tuson has a different Suspension set up. Sportage is more rugged and better equipped for off road.
December 27th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
actually sportage supenssion is stiff for better road handling like sports-tuned suspension and not the best for rough conditions; the ride gets bone-jarring. true off-road suspension has more ‘give’ to soak up the shocks after landing from getting air-borne after topping a hill. tucson’s supenssion isn’t completely off-road oriented but its soft enough for long-distance rough-path travelling. driving on rough-paths for long with sportage may get you tired very quickly.
