We are grateful for how much interest the Kia KOUP generated at the 2008 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). There have been many inquiries as to the viability of KOUP finding its way into production. To be frank, it’s still too soon to confirm the KOUP for production but I can tell you Spectra (‘Cerato’ in many markets) is scheduled for a complete makeover this coming year and as you know we have both a sedan and 5-door versions for Spectra.

Let’s speculate a bit about how we could proceed with the KOUP design shown at NYIAS. For sure what was shown is a design direction that’s being considered for mass production. We strongly suggested as much during the press conference. What we mean by design direction is that you could expect to see the same profile and design themes like the ‘swoosh’ and ‘checkmark’ on the outside and some of the key interior elements…(Source: Kia buzz)

Great to hear we will see both, the 5-door hatch and 4-door sedan, hitting the production! I bet we are gonna see the KOUP soon after four door.
As mentioned in the article, KOUP generated so much interest, that it would be a big mistake if Kia didn’t develope the 2-ddor and offer it to consumers!

OK. so now, I can like this one more than pro_cee’d since the 5-door is also coming.

as expected, there aren’t going to be brembos. :(
no 19″ rims and probably no eagle tires. Anyway, the sedan or hatch will sell more here. Kia should offer an SX version of it if it sells well which will have the brembos and drilled rotors.

I want one sooooo bad! That thing would be such a chick magnet! The Spectra had Goodyear Eagle tires. Optima has Michelin Low profiles.

it had eagles??? that must have been after market.

I’m begining to wonder if the KND-4 is the next Sportage. Since the current Sportage is on the Spectra platform, this concept seems to be on the same platform as the KND-4. Just look at the KND-4’s doors and compare them to the Koup and you’ll see what I mean.

I need eagle eyes like yours. how do you notice these things.

Hey, great guess on the KND-4 possibly being the next Sportage! Could be. Boris, you mentioned the Koup’s having Eagle tires in your furthest post up, then questioned Greg when he said it had Goodyear Eagles. Those would be good tires for the Koup, but, you could also use some Yokohama’s or even Dunlop performance tires, like my ‘08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS has. Anyway, it sure looks like the Kia Koup will be coming after the 4-door and 5-door Spectra hits American shores. Bring those TD-Spectra’s on and of course, the Kia Koup! Whoo-hoo!

do you think the koup will have even 1% of the corbon fibre its has as a concept.

So, the spectra 5 is going to continue. You know what that means to the Pontiac Vibe and Matrix? Gulp.

The Eagles are standard on all 2004.5-2008 Spectra EX.

carbon fibre is way too expensive as it is, and with boeing using almost all of it available on their stupid 787 Dreamliner, there isnt even the slightest possibility that it will be used. who cares tho? if it is cheap enough and has that sweet twin turbo engine, its gonna be good enough for anyone looking for sumfin lyk the tC or civic coupe. but the twin turbos prolli wont make it to production too… :(

This text format has a mind of its own sometimes, don’t it?

actually bryan. when you leave a line between two paragraphs the second para goes to the right. if you ‘enter’ after a smilie, the smilie will go the sentence you type in that next line. if you continue typing in the same line after a smilie, the smilie comes at the end of the post.

Sorry guys, there’s not much I can do about that, until the next (second) evolution of KIA-WORLD is developed in about a year or better said, until I collect (save) about 1000$…

Yup, it’s true, I paid for the site to be developed. The job was done by two of my friends, so the costs were a little lower as it would be If I made a deal with any other profesional website building company.
I’m really thankful to both of them as they did a great job!

Just make sure that it is not moving ads, or it will slow my computer.

  24. Bryan Says:

The absolute worst ads on Edmunds.com are the ones from GM, namely Cadidillac ads. I hate those turkeys! They freeze up my screen while they show their stupid presentation and make the CTS’ lights blare real bright. I and GM don’t see eye-to-eye, let me put it that way. Nor do I care for the Edmunds.com administrators for selling theirselves out and putting dorky GM ads on their pages, slowing up our screens and polluting our cyberspace with the filth they have for sale. Now I’ll tell you how I really feel….just kidding! That is how I really feel! =:]

this looks great but the 2 inch trim around the door is missing, so it will not look this cool when it hits the streets.
