WOW!!!! that is so thrilling!!! the rear lights look like audi’s. a sign that peter has designed this. and it looks great with red lighting

BTW, himi, dont you yet, feel its a redesigned opirus? 2 reasons that support this:
1- optima was just redesigned recently and opirus has barely changed since launch
2- this car has some gadgets that are found in luxury cars.

This is Optima for sure. Compare it’s grille with the previous spy shots of Optima and you’ll see it the same design.
What I’m really looking forward to see is the next gen. Opirus/Amanti. I wish I knw which way will Kia go. More towards sleek 4 door coupe sedan, RWD sedan,…???

himi, what he’s trying to say is that the previous pictures WERE Amanti. Why the heck would they redesign a brand new design and leave Oprius for a little longer. Can you make those pics any biggger?

wow im soooooo excited!!!! H grille!!!! and yeah, do u fink u can get pics any bigger???

himi, Kia is working on a sleek new 4-door coupe sedan? Funny you should mention that because that is why I strayed to Mitsubishi and bought one of their new Lancer’s. I wanted to buy another Kia but this knockout from Mitsu came along and stole my heart. But now with P.Schreyer leading design the excitement of several new possibilities once again exists. Kia was already amongst the best body designers around before he came, but now, look out. Still can’t wait to see a production Kee…with four doors maybe? =:)

Wow. Nice. Peter must really like read interior lighting by from Kee, Borrego, Soul Burner and now Optima.
BTW, I wish the pictures were bigger so I can see the really stilish grille. I have a question, there is supposed to be three models at the New York Auto Show, is the third models the TD or something else?

No this is the Optima. K-Sport you should know that according to where you got your information from. The facelifted Optima was listed and the CH for later. Besides why would Kia release these teasers of the Amanti if the Optima is planned to be in New York next week?
Speaking of CH and VG which one do you think will be the coupe sedan? I’m thinking the VG is the coupe sedan.

This is a very upscaled look they are going with. Aggressive but very grown up stylish. Great design. I hope it will help the resale value of Optima in the US. It is very bad when you can buy a 2007 used optima for the same price as a used 06-07 Spectra.

By looking at it, the v6 is going to be very powerful. I too want to see the Amanti but believe me this is no Amanti.
The Kue’s face I think is the next Amanti. In other words, I would expect a much bigger grille.
March 14th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Besides if that was the Amanti, the interior has down scaled but upscaled for the Optima.

http://thecarfanatic.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/facelift-magentis.jpg in this image shows the interior panel with the clima controls and the radio, is the same that lotze/optima/magentis

yep. The interior now looks good. It looks to have gotten just the right tweaks to make it stand out from the same old bland interiors of toyota and honda.

the H grille looks great

I hate the guages. Blue is much better for them.
March 15th, 2008 at 5:51 am
I’m happy that they used red now, its the best backlighting colour. and now I’m thinking its an optima.
March 15th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Blue for Optima, for sure!
March 16th, 2008 at 4:42 am
Interesting!!! Think I`ll reserve judgement until more detail becomes available - somewhat concerned with the direction of the interior based on the little I can see - but ,who knows ? Agree with you Greg - the blue lighting in the Optima dash absolutely
beats the red hands down !

There is no doubt! I am going to post a picture in the BLUE OPTIMA PHOTOS thread. I am cheating….those guages are from the red one we temporarily have back!

The 2009 Optima is the BEST mid-size sedan I know! It has an awesome design and looks tight! It definitely beats those junky Japanese Cars!
