Three SOUL concepts to reveal “fun” side of Kia

Defying traditional automotive classification, three new SOUL concept cars to be unveiled by Kia at the Geneva Show on 4 March, will reveal a whole new individual and fun direction for the Korean brand.

The trio of concepts are closely related to an upcoming production model that doesn’t fit into the usual motor industry brackets and will encourage a whole new breed of Kia customers to build an emotional bond with their new car and with the brand.

The SOUL concepts will introduce ‘a world of possibilities’ for customising and personalisation to future Kia customers that will be delivered by the new model with its special appeal to the young-at-heart - whatever their age!

The SOUL Burner (shown here) is the ‘bad boy’ of the concept trio complete with satin black finish and gloss dragon tattoos.

Why don’t we just see the entire concept again with a new paint job? It’s been at more than four auto shows now. Look at where the door handle is located. It is just like the one(s) we see on spy shots. But, if this is a concept, why would they waste money to redesign the Soul’s doors? We already know that it will be seen for the first time in New York. Once that happens this concept will just be a waste of money. Therefore, I’m going with Patrick in saying this is a teaser.

I take back everything I said. Kia’s head turning designs turned my head that I didn’t read I just looked. This is one hell of a nice crossover. I’m so glad Toyota is f*****g up on their designs (Scion XD, Land Cruiser, Corolla and Highlander). My only concern is will this affect Rondo sells? I think so.

The Rondo can carry 7 people and the Soul can not. The Soul won’t mess with Rondo sales IMO. The Rondo is a people mover and the Soul is more of a single guy’s fun-mobile, the way I look at it, or a couple’s funmobile.

Yeah, Rondo is for families, and Soul is for people in their 20s-30s, that are looking for somthing exotic to impress the ladies with.

Burner is not meant to be a real concept car, but a production version of Soul with some accesories. It only shows one way of how the Soul can be customized.
Take off those big wheels and tatoo and there it is, a production ready Soul…I trully belive that the overall production design (greenhouse, doors, sideline, lights…) will stay the same as on Soul Burner.

IMO Soul will not affect Rondos sales! I expect to see it stealing the sales from Rio! Rio could be in real trouble when Soul comes to the market. Especially, if both of them have similar starting price.

Himi is right - Soul bruner is one of three versions we will show at Geneva to illustrate just how Soul can be made personal by anyone who wants something that is different from run of the mill mainstream cars. Don’t try to categorise it - no-one describes MINI as a B-segment hatchback! Yes the shot is a teaser but I’ll see to it that himi gets full pictures just as quick as we can! And don’t forget we want to bring lots of other people into the family and Soul will be the car to do it in the immediate future..

Sorry for the typing error! That wasn’t a hint to another concept!

Steve, do you know if Kia plans any accesories for Soul? You know like Toyota did for Scion brand.

It’s still too early to talk about that in any detail - but for sure Soul will be a product that will change according to what the buyer wants.

It’s gonna be a lot like Fiat500 which is treated as an icon car. I expect to see the Soul becoming a “halo” product for Kia.

    I Think this car rules!
the car for the average person
    the girls blingy car
and the boys car (the burner)
as there are 3 different types of souls
    probaly kia’s best car yet!

    8/10
