In my above comment I meant to say that the 2006.5 Kia Optima has only been out in America for about a year and a half. Hopefully that didn't confuse anbody, because the Kia Optima itself has indeed been in America longer than just one and a half years.

Wow...the Kia Optima has only been out in America for about a year and a half. Well, those Lotske pictures looked pretty good and if Kia can put a chrome tailpipe and some fancy trimming in some appropriate places it would help Optima sales I think. A facelift, yes, but a re-design seems early for the Optima.

The more I think about it the more I agree that the Kia Amanti might need a replacement, near-luxury or luxury vehicle. I don't dislike the current Amanti but aren't sales weak for it as it is right now?

When was the Optima unveiled in US market actually? Was it two or three years ago?
Optima only received a minor "upgrade" at it's home market. No major exterior changes were done on it's exterior and interior design. But it did get a new engine. We had a report about it: http://www.kia-world.net/index.php/2007/11/28/kia-upgrades-lotze-sedan/

Upgraded Optima did not go overseas, but now, acording to news above, Kia is planning to do a facelift for it. I'd say the timing is right. Every Kia gets a facelift after beeing at the market for three years. I have already seen some photoshoped pics indicating how Optima could look like when it gets the facelift...Much more pleasing and attractive, I'd say...

Regarding Kia Amanti, I also think this is the Kia, that desperately needs a replacement. I hope Kia decides to make it more like sporty 4door coupe ala Mercedes CLS or VW Passat CC. Perhaps choosing a new name would also be good to do...

We will see how thing go in the near future, but the most important is, Kia is making money again!!!! It would be impossible to continue developing such great new models (cee'd) and conepts(Kee) if Kia was in red every year.

hey jtz i agree with you 100% about the amanti. Schreyer needs to come up with a new design for a big and sporty sedan and it needs to be flashy to compete, unlike the current amanti. and why is the optima getting another facelift so soon? why not a redesign then?

What, the Optima just had a facelift. . What do they plan on doing with the Amanti, they never advertise it and Kia is not saying if Amanti is being redesigned, deleted or replaced. If it keeps on going like it is now, its total monthly sells could be from 500 to 0. Its no longer making ends meet. That is good for the Optima though especially after seeing the spy shots of the Spectra. The Optima's headlights compared to that Spectra will need to be facelifted.
But... what going on with the future of the Amanti?

Optima is going to be redisigned? now it will look better.
Its so hard to convince people about going for optima. Altima looks more cool and has some awsome technology which is usually not available on mid-size sedans. And Accord, although down in looks, has got a some very reliable engine technology that saves fuel and reduces CO2 emissions. hope Kia gets evrything right with the new optima.
