Today in Las Vegas, Kia COO Len Hunt told us that the production Kia Soul we’ll be getting before too long will look almost exactly like the updated concept they showed us here today at SEMA.

It also happens to look a lot like the spy shots showed last month. In case you forgot, Kia introduced the Soul crossover at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. The camo-covered production version has been spotted in the Detroit area not far from the Hyundai-Kia Tech Center.

The production version looks like it sticks pretty close to the concept on the outside. The main visual differences are the rear suicide doors being replaced with conventional types and frames around the side glass. The shape of the vehicle with the slight downward sloping roof-line and the boxy front remains true to form. We’ll probably see this one make its public debut during the coming auto show season, perhaps as soon as the Detroit Auto Show in January. [Source: Autoblog]

I want this car….. I’m no Halo fanboy but it reminds me of the masterchief’s buggy and I liked that design as well.. I just hope its reliable(I’m not fond of constantly taking my car for free repairs just because I get a 10 year warranty…) and very fuel efficient since I know Kia probably put every posible safety feature alredy. The white and black color set is so awesome looking!

The Soul concept car looks stunning, doesn’t it!? It was shown for the third time I think, last time at SEMA 07 last ewwk. It’s still a concept car, but Kia says the production Soul will look very close to the concept. What you see here and now, you’ll also see on the streets next year!

It will be efficient, safe and reliable just like all Kias are!
Are you planning to buy it, Buggy Soul?

Yeah O_O, stop myself from purchasing a gas sucking altima coupe to wait for this. It just look so.. so.. Futuristic out of the same every day car crap I see…(the altima is just another g35/z clone..) on the bright side its lower cost than what I had in mind!(could add some great extras?!) its way more futuristic looking and more complex design. I mean FINALLY a low cost car with efficient engines (I mean seriously my current car has a v6 200hp and never gone past 60 mph….. what a waste of money on my part but at least I like its outside look) and is awesome looking! and tiny!!! I love small cars :D I’m no huge SUV type of fan.

Hopefully I can have a decently powered engine( whats the point of a 300 hp car but also at least some power to support the ussual stop and go.. 1.8l 125+ are rather decent, better than the weak 1.5L 100-+) with low gas consumption and GPS screen :/

Anyway yes I plan to buy it if its the same idea as that in the concept: Techie, Futuristic, and Muscular. This just needs soem window tinting :O

Forgot to say…. KIA gotta make their logo more attractive….. These cars don’t fit so good with the logo :/ needs a more “modern” logo like Hyundai’s. If they are going on the road of the youth oriented type of cars…. defenetly needs a new logo. The other thign was… well KIA should hire a company to make small KIA SOUL metal models! I love this car so much I want it as a desk item too!

    Hey, look here: http://www.kia-world.net/index.php/2007/09/25/kia-soul-crossover-taking-shape/
You have some spy shot where you can see the general shape which is really simillar to the concept Soul + you have a link to all Soul articles reporting about engines, equipement, spy shots and other Soul stuff.
It really will be an attractive vehicle!
