Kia Patrol car – Slovakian Police order cee’d fleet!
Written by himi on Tuesday, September 11th, 2007 in General News, Kia Vehicles.
Kia Motors has been appointed an ‘Official Supplier’ to the Slovakian Ministry of the
Interior and awarded a contract to supply locally-manufactured Kia cee’d vehicles to the country’s police forces until 2010.
To mark this significant fleet order, Kia is displaying the first cee’d Police patrol car, complete with overall white and green-stripes livery and roof-top lights pod, at Frankfurt.
The first batch of 350 cee’d police patrol cars are scheduled for delivery by year-end. Over the next three years, up to 4,000 Kia vehicles could be ordered as part of the Interior Ministry’s re-equipment programme.
Kia Kee Sports Coupe makes worldwide premiere today!
Many say that the world premiere of the all-new Kia Kee sports coupe concept at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany this week is a landmark moment for Kia’s evolution into a major global automotive company.
The Kee concept vehicle is a 4,3 metre long 2-door coupe with svelte, newly proportioned lines resulting from a slightly lengthened greenhouse. It is a new interpretation of a 2+2 coupe with an imposing road presence that demonstrates an uncluttered, pure and timeless execution and represents a new design ethos for Kia.
The concept car features broad stance and a low profile, with three unique exterior elements – the strong and powerful frontal design with its distinctive headlamps and eye-catching LED cluster, a dynamic profile with striking greenhouse treatment and 20-inch diameter alloy wheels. Measuring 4,324 mm long, the Kia Kee is powered by a next generation 2-litre, V-6 gasoline engine producing 200 ps, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
“The new Kia Kee is a clear and emphatic statement that the future of the Kia brand is set to be one that will excite and surprise an entirely new audience of consumers,” commented Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer Kia Motors.
“In making this design departure for Kia it was essential to my thinking that we did not lose sight of the fact that the Kia brand must continue to appeal to customers in the mainstream. It would have been easy to present an extreme supercar at Frankfurt that would attract plenty of attention, but could have no place in Kia’s future. Our sports coupe concept is not simply a flight of fancy but represents an affordable dream for sports car lovers.” [Source: Kia]

But now, more than eight months later, rumors are spreading that Kia officials finnally changed their minds and gave the Ex_cee’d a green light!

Kia Motors aims for rise in auto sales in Europe!
Written by himi on Monday, September 10th, 2007 in General News.
Kia Motors Corp., South Korea’s second-largest automaker, said Monday it aims to sell 19 per cent more vehicles in 2007 in Europe than in 2006, driven by higher demand for its hatchback model C’eed.
Kia has set its 2007 sales target in Europe at 391,000 vehicles, compared with 328,584 sold in 2006, the company said ahead of an international auto show in Frankfurt this week.
Early this year, Kia began selling the five-door C’eed hatchback in Europe and sold about 80,000 units by the end of August, the company said.
Buoyed by the high demand, Kia raised its 2008 sales target of C’eed car in Europe to 200,000 units from the previous target of 150,000 units, according to the company.
Also on Monday, Kia completed building an 11-story European headquarters here, as the automaker is aiming at capturing 2.7 percent of the automobile market in Europe by 2010.
