It’s stil too early to say much about the vehicle other than what the photos show, said one of the members of Kia-forums, but it will most likely be a 4 cylinder Front Wheel Drive (FWD) vehicle. There is some talk about an AWD version by a few whisperers in the dark. Certainly it would make sense given that the Sportage, Sorento and whatever emerges as the Kue and Mesa are.

Kia Soul will most likely be geared to the younger crowd as a clear message regarding the differing Hyundai / Kia images. However, consider what happened to the Honda Element. Same expectations only to have it sought out by a much older crowd.

We agree with you Random006!

It looks much more like a concept Soul with those bigger tires!

Thank you Jean!! I’ll post that interior picture in a new Soul post! The interior looks great so far!

I like the overall concept and size of this vehicle, but for CRYIN’ OUT LOUD…. what is UP with the squared off, angular, A and B pillars? It looks like KIA took some old angle iron and welded it up to make the door frames. Ick! Even the angular prev-gen Scion xB had a curve at the top of the door’s A pillar.

I know it’s too late to turn back now KIA, but remember that you heard it first when the reviews criticizing this part of the design start appear.

I wish KIA luck in any case, because us U.S. owners want North American sales to be profitable for KIA. We DON’T want to get stuck with any “orphan” car lines, ala Daewoo!

Thank you for stoping here and welcome to the Kia-world blog (Kia fans community) Ratdaddy! Congratulations on your new ride!
It’s good to hear you like the Rondo and considering buying another Kia!
Soul and cee’d are my favourite Kia cars at the moment and if I was in the market for a new car I would probably wait and get a Kia Soul!

COULDNT WAIT TO GET ONE ,NOW SEEING INTERIOR PICS I THINK IVE CHANGED MY MIND, TOOK A REALLY NEAT CUTTING EDGE DESIGN AND MADE LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE, BIG DISSAPOINTMENT

I understand what your saying Runtcat ,But you have to understand this is a (concept vehicle) put into production. There will be drastic changes in design features for the real world . But the overall theme is still there . I think it’s about time a car company like KIA took a radical design and put it into production instead of spending say a million dollars on a fake car and showing it off in a car show. What i mean by fake is clay body no engine no drive train. But boy does it look cool SO WHAT IT DON”T WORK. Cudoos to KIA !!!!!!!!

Although Soul’s exterior will not adopt many design changes, it’s interior probably will. It happens every time that automakers put a very futuristic interior in their cocnept cars. But also tone it down till the vehicle makes it to production.
You don’t have to worry. Kia will make Soul’s interior look good. Just look at the latest Kia interiors, like cee’d’s interior and see your self how fine it is.

One design change will be the suicide doors ,that were on the proto type changed to regular opening doors because of safety constraints in case of rollover ,so in goes a wierd B piller also i believe there will be a small change to the rear hatch for safety , I think the Soul will live up to the expectations of KIA fans, But we will have wait to see the final product.

  10. himi Says:

    November 16th, 2007 at 10:10 pm

It’s a pitty they changed the doors. If they managed to make a safe car with suicide doors, this would make the Soul even more unique.

BTW: Do you imagine how good will Soul look when beeing tuned!

There are just hundreds of products and clubs for the cruiser for tunning upgrading engine interior and exterior accessories .I know for befor my wife got her Rondo she had a 2001 pt and i still have a 2002 pt cruiser well pimped. Sorry i just can’t stop ranting about the Soul …………………..

Not a huge fam of the PT myself. Even before I knew Kia existed I didn’t like it. I guess that is a matter of opinion though.

Oh, that’s an O.K. place. Is that State Road 4 off of exit 136 on I-40? I was just there recently. I stopped off just before the big city to fill my coffee mug and couldn’t seem to find a place that had fresh coffee. Everyone I went to I asked the freshness of the coffee, and the freshest was over an hour. I didn’t have coffee that evening. I live in Northern Michigan. Manistee to be exact. On the lakeshore between Grand Rapids and Traverse city. Population:6,000. VERY boring little town.

  23. Greg Says:

The biggest(I think) chain coffee house. They offer gourmet coffee, mocha, cappuchino, lattes and other coffee-related products. They are best on the go, but at home I prefer Seattle’s best (not sold at a chain).

  24. Ratdaddy Says:

    November 19th, 2007 at 11:33 pm

Hey himi im looking at a map of your country where are you from

  25. himi Says:

    November 20th, 2007 at 12:07 am

Cool. Those chain coffee houses (stores) are pretty popular among Americans aren’t they?
    Did you find it already?:-)
Well, I live in Slovenia(Europe). If you look at the EU map you’ll most probably see the Germany in the center of EU. Then you go south and there is Austria and continue that way (south), next you’ll find is Slovenia. The country lies between Italy on the left side, Hungary on the right side and Austria which is above Slovenia.
To help you a little bit, here is the map of Europe and my country: http://www.slikomat.com/slika/1970094.htm

No, not yet. My uncle lived in America for several years. Both, his daughter and son are now living and working in US but he came back. I think he lived in Pitsburg! So his son and daughter keep telling me to visit them sometime and it’s only a question of time when I visit the USA.
Perhaps we might meet sometime? What do you think of the largest Kia meeting in US?:-)
