Global Kia Sales – February 2012

Kia’s global growth momentum continues into second month of 2012 with February sales soaring more than 21 per-cent!

According to latest sales report, Kia Motors continues its seemingly un-stoppable sales growth. The South Korean second largest carmaker announced today its global sales figures for passenger cars and recreational vehicles for February 2012, recording a total of 205,876 units sold – up 21,3 percent compared to the same month a year ago.

Kia experienced year-on-year sales increases in all regions of the world, with sales gaining as much as 41.8 percent in China and 35 percent in North America. China- and NA-sales have hit an all time high of 38,007 and 49,682 units, respectively.

The carmaker also performed well in Europe where it posted a 30.6 percent gain in sales (38,703 units sold) and in its home market of Korea where sales were up 2,5 percent. According to the report, Korean dealers moved 40,012 Kia cars, last month.

With 37,146 units sold, the 2012 Kia Rio continues to be the volume leader for Kia Motors Corporation globally. The soon-to-be-replaced Forte (known also as Cerato in Australia) took the second spot with sales totaling 26,615 units in February 2012.

The ageing Forte was followed by the highly-acclaimed Kia Sportage crossover and Optima sedan in third and fourth place with sales of 25,011 and 18,444 units, respectively. The Kia duo, which won the iF Design Awards last year, was followed by Sorento CUV with sales of  15,947 units.

Cumulatively, through the first two months of fiscal year, Kia’s sales globally have increased 12 percent to reach 391,160 units.
