3,000 New Car Buyers To Get Special Lifelong Discount As Kia Celebrates 30 Million Vehicles Sold Globally

Global sales for Kia Motors are expected to cross the 30 million mark later this month, which will be a first since they started making cars in 1962.

As of late April, the total number was sitting at around 29.93 million units.

Add to that the fact that Kia has been averaging about 260,000 units per month in 2014, it’s fair to say that the 30 million mark will be topped this month.

To celebrate the event, Kia is planning on giving 3% lifelong discounts to as many as 3,000 customers who purchase a Kia vehicle this month.

The road to 30 million began with the K-360 3-wheeled light cargo truck.

10 Million Cars By 2003

30 million Kias soldKia had achieved sales of 10 million units by 2003, followed by 20 million in 2010.

The biggest leap for the company came when they became a part of Hyundai Motor.

Their annual sales topped 1 million for the first time in 2004, rising to almost 3 million annual sales in 2013.

Since April 2000, they have sold a total of 22.59 million units, which is about three-fourths of all the cars they have sold in their history.

3 Kia Best Sellers

The top seller was the subcompact Pride, which was released in 1987 and sold 3.46 million units.

That was followed in total sales by the Sportage SUV and the Sorento SUV.

Kia has seen its overseas sales literally explode, with those numbers accounting for about 84% of cars they sold.
