2018 Kia Stinger GT AWD Release Date, Specs, Tire Size

Official details about the 2018 Kia Stinger AWD or RWD sedan (release date, tires, pictures, etc…).

When Kia unveiled the GT concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, it was seen by many as a sign that the Koreans wanted to dip their toe in the GT market.

It took the brand quite some time to get there, but it appears to have been worth the wait, as the 2018 Kia Stinger, was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

A side by side comparison of the two Kia sport sedans (the GT concept and production model) shows that there have indeed been elements taken from the concept for the production model.

Kia Stinger 2018The suicide doors of the concept are gone, but the top of the line Stinger GT trim has a look that is both aggressive and stylish.

As far as the segment goes, the Stinger is going to be one of the biggest cars in there, coming in at 190.2 inches (4.8 meters) long and 73.6 inches (1.87 meters) wide.

The wheelbase is also longer than most, stretching out to 114.4 inches (2.9 meters).

This means that cabin and cargo space should be good, with Kia going as far as to say that with the practical power liftgate open, there should be no problem getting full size luggage or even golf bags in the back.

Kia Stinger AWD

The Stinger was put through its paces on the fames Nurburgring test track, and will be the first sedan from Kia to be offered in both AWD and RWD.

The RWD model will feature a mechanical limited slip differential, while the AWD will be outfitted with the new Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system.

This system constantly monitors road conditions and driver input to ensure that the right amount of power and braking force is applied to the appropriate wheels.

Kia Stinger 2018 engine specs

The US version of the Kia Stinger 2018 will come with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers an estimated 255-hp and 260-lb.-ft. of torque.

This model will come with the AWD configuration, and the engine will be mated to the same 8-speed automatic found under the hood of the Kia flagship sedan. These specs apply to the base model.

The top of the line 2018 Kia Stinger GT will come with a biturbo 3.3-liter V6 engine that generate 365-hp and 376-lb.-ft. of torque.

Likely will get the K8/K800 moniker and likely shares underpinnings with the G80 (looks almost as long as the G80).

For Europe, its Nov 2017. And there’ll be a version with the 2.2 CRDi R Diesel engine and 200hp but only 17 inch rims and smaller (non-brembo) brakes, but also with the 8-speed-automatic from the gasonline engines.

If it loses that ridiculous KIA badge it might have a chance to really be entertained for the car it is. I think this car is a winner. I am planning to own one if the price is right. It is exactly what I’ve been wanting in a car, it’s like they read my mind. So give it a chance for success make a unique badge for it.

People will think even three times when the car Kia badged is asking for more than $35,000; as they will buy a BMW or Audi with that price. Please keep in mind that the feeling and “eyes in the other people” will be a deciding factor when comes to car ownership.
Haha, there will be a lot of discount on “unsold” Stinger and that is really a “stinger” to the owners.
