2014 Kia Optima styling changes

The mis-dize segment has long been dominated by function rather than desirability, but the facelifted Optima will deliver both with a perofect combination of style and substance at a great price.

Kia’s Frankfurt-based design team were in charge of refining the design of the Optima, and did so by improving the fascias in front and back, as well as the signatire tabbed grille.

The aerodynamic styling and bold stance are further accentuated with the updated rear diffusers and sweeping trunk lid.

Adding to the European-inspired design of the car are LED positioning fog lights in the front, and newly redesigned LED lamps in the rear.

Optima interior improvements & features

Improvents have also been made to the interior, thanks to the addition of many new high-tech features and amenities.

A push of the button ignition reveals a pair of new displays: a 4.3-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster and optional high-resolution 8-inch navigation and telematics screen, featuring UVO eServices, an 8-speaker Infinity sound system, HD Radio, SiriusXM, Satellite Radio and SiriusXM Traffic.

The 2014 optima comes with a pair of powerful Theta II engines with gasoline direct injection -GDI.

There is the 2.4L GDI four-cylinder or a 2.0L GDI turbo engine. Drivers also have the chance to opt for a 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain.

The LX, EX, and SX all come with the 2.4-liter GDI engine, while the SX can also come with the more powerful 2.0-liter turbo GDI engine.

The SX is now going to come with the 2.4, or optionally the 2.0 Turbo? That is a change…

Wow, big deal. They ruined the interior. The touchscreen looks off, the steering wheel is atrocious.
LED foglamps only on the Limited? Turbo only on the SX and Limited still? Can’t have power and comfortable suspension (EX)? The LED tailights look hideous. I had a 2011 Optima SX Turbo and was traded. Bad decision!
Was hoping the 2014 would bring great improvements. Kia….you suck!
