Meet the all-new 2013 Kia Quoris – the Kia K9 gets a new name for global markets!

Kia’s highly-advanced rear-wheel-luxury sedan, known as Kia K9 in South Korea, will be named Quoris for markets outside of South Korea.

According to Kia, the all-new Quoris flagship model is scheduled to go on sale in select countries worldwide in fourth quarter of 2012. The high-end Kia luxury sedan will reportedly be offered in the USA, Middle East and China.

Just like the Korean-market model, the 2013 Quoris will offer an array of technological and active safety features such as the lane departure warning system -LDWS, radar-based blind-spot detection -BSD with lane change assistance, all around-view monitor with four cameras, blind spot detection with lane change assistance, head up display, smart cruise control and many others.

Kia Motors Corp. also released two videos along with a few official Quoris photos which provide a few interesting details about the car’s highly-advanced safety technology, style and refinement.

  1. In a way… it would be like saying “Chorus” with more of a “q” sound in the beginning.
Or if you break it down, “Quo” like when you say “Quota” and “ris” like “wrist” without the “t” at the end.

    So, Quo-wris.

Beautiful car, though. It’s Either this car or the Hyundai Equus!

  2. The Origin of Quoris
“Derived from the English words ‘core’ and ‘quality’
The word ‘Quoris’ conveys solidity, luxury and high-technology, all resonating together as a chorus.”
from Kia Buzz July 18, 2012.

  3. I don’t know what Kia execs were thinking – Quoris is a horrible name.

And if they ever bring it to the US, it needs separate/distinct badging (having ‘KIA’ lettered somewhere on the rear is fine).

  4. I don’t think Quoris a bad name. It’s just a matter of getting used to it. For example, “Equus” for me sounded weirder as well the first time I listened to it, but after some time you I got used…

Either way, Quoris is gonna be my next car (just bought an Optima) in the next years to come. Also, I am waiting for 3DS XL and Wii U eagerly, I’m too anxious to play Project C.A.R.S on Wii U!

  5. I dont care what other people say about it looking a like a BMW cause frankly i choose this Kia Quoris, Haters can hate on me for what cause of this Beautifull car?? i can care less,, anyways i love the body of this car it has bunch of Technology in it.

  6. On a side note, took a drive past the Hyundai-Kia America Tech Center in Ann Arbor tonight. Things I saw of note, sitting in the back parking lot, were – a 2014 Forte (red, in full camo), a current-gen Nissan Quest (benchmark for the new Sedona?), and lightly camo-ed versions of the current Elantra and Equus. I only live 40 miles from the tech center…..I should drive by more often.

  7. Based on the released rendering of the new Forte sedan, the Quoris/K9’s front looks like a mix of the new Forte (headlights) and cee’d (grill sans vertical slats).

  8. Ummmmmmmmmmm speechless with this name. I would have preferred Amanti, dammit Kia Oppulence would have worked for me as corny as that sounds LOL LOL Quoris????

    Really,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,really,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,REALLY!!!!!!!
