2011 Kia Forte Koup SX Tuning

We’re super excited to share with you today an interview with Mr. Travis M. Rice, the owner of an eye-catching 2011 Kia Forte Koup SX!

He has done a great job modifying his Kia ride so far. Having installed the HID headlights, carbon wrapped mirrors, performance axel back exhaust and tinted rear lights,Travis plans to further enhance the looks and performance of his Forte Koup.

He has been a long time Kia owner, so let’s see what he has to say about his past Kia ownership experience and near future plans!

1. Tell us something about your Kia Koup SX ownership experience?
Oh man, where to begin? The whole experience has been one big ride that keeps getting better and better. I’ve been a “Kia” owner since 2001, so I have had a lot of time to “experience” life with Kia.

2. What do other people say about your car?
On a daily basis, I will get anything from “Thats a Kia?”, to “that’s one of the cleanest Kia’s I’ve seen.”

I get a lot of love and a lot of hate but the wonderful thing is both attitudes push me to do more bigger and better. I believe the saying goes….”haters let you know you’re doing it right.”

3. How long have you owned your Forte Koup SX?
My current Kia, I have only had for 5 months, but I have been a Kia owner since 2001.

4. Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Kia?
My intentions were purely to use the car as transportaion. A 2001 Kia Rio was my first car, during my senior year of high school, and like any other senior with a car, I was just happy to have a set of wheels.

5. What do you like the most about your ride?
The whole car is a great package, but if I had to choose one thing, it would be the appeal of the car.

6. What is it that makes your ride look unique?
The car, both in and out, is modified and taylored to my specific style. I pull in a lot of inspirtation from friends cars, and rides I see all around me, but at the end of the day, I choose the modifications and how to make them work on the car so it doesn’t come out as one big mess. I believe that makes the car unique.

7. What accessories have you installed so far / do you have any future plans?
I started with a gloss black roof wrap and from there, smithclub projector HID headlights, all rear lights tinted a smoked cherry, carbon wrapped mirrors all done by Guardlinewraps, a KDMtuning ecu tune, custom mid ram intake, nameless performance axel back exhaust, and Megan ez street series coilovers.

Future plans are a front lip and side skirts and a new set of wheels and tires to really set the car off. I am currently working on a custom set of projector headlights so I can be more “unique”.

Its a never ending process. The car is always in a state of evolving. Just like people living and growing and changing as time goes by.

  1. 30,152 miles in 5 months? That’s 6,000 miles per month! You must do a lot of driving! I only put on a little over 5,000 a month.

  2. Awesome write up kia-world. Thanks a bunch. As far as the interior goes, I plan on having the brushed silver looking pieces all wrapped in a gloss black. I’m not a fan of that interior silver and will be installing the koup navigation deck. Also, Greg, I traded my brand new 2012 rio ex in for this used koup that had one owner and 28,000 miles so really I’ve only out on a couple grand. :-)
