2011 Kia Canada Sales hit 60,000 units

We’ve all heard about the amazing sales results that Kia has posted in their native Korea, as well as here in the US, but that’s not the only place where they are making a major inroads in the new car market.

Kia Canada recently announced the results of its best November ever, and the numbers are nothing short of staggering. What makes the final figures even more incredible is that the record numbers were recorded in all regions of the country, and placed the industry best sales streak at 35 months of continued upward growth.

The number of units sold during the month of November 2011 came in at 4.854, which represented a jump of over 20 percent from the same period in 2010. That number also took total sales for the year to over 60.000, which was the first time that Kia Canada has achieved that mark in its eleven year history.

Those numbers are well ahead of what everyone else in the industry is posting across Canada, and it’s a trend that shows no real sign of slowing down anytime soon.

Maria Soklis, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada Inc. said that she believed that the improved brand perception, combines with some solid work from the Kia dealer network were the key factors in the strong November showing.

It’s also fair to say that the Kia Sorento crossover has been the major driving force behind that surge, leading the way with 1.240 vehicles sold nationwide, making it the volume sales leader, not only for November, but for the preceding 4 month period.

The all-new 2012 Kia Soul CUV also helped boost the figures dramatically, as it continues to perform well for the company worldwide.

Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing Kia Canada Inc. talked about how the now two year old commitment to re-design and quality has made a major difference for dealerships across the country, which in turn has led to more sales.

As is the sales figures weren’t enough. Kia has also had it vehicles recognized by Canada’s largest online automotive portal Auto123.com. The all-new Kia Optima 2012 was only introduced to the Canadian market earlier this year, but that was long enough for Auto123 to vote it the best in the mid-sized category, ahead of 11 other vehicles.

The Sportage CUV won the Compact Utility vehicle of the year for the second straight time, which helped complete a fantastic November for Kia Canada.

Time will only tell if sales in December will help maintain the current winning sales streak, but I think it’s fair to assume that there will be enough Kia car keys under the Christmas tree to help keep it alive.

  1. glad to see Canada is getting some recognition on this site, but I already posted this info under the US sales as its not usually mentioned.

  2. Its no wonder that percentage wise, Canada is probably going to exceed U.S. Sales, if for no other reason but better content then U.S. Kia vehicles get even factoring in any pricing differences between the two Markets. For an example, my base model 2012 Kia Rio5 in “LX” Trim with the added automatic transmission and optional Power Package which adds PW, PL, and Remote Key Fob, and the addition of the carpeted floor mats had an MSRP of $16, 545 (including) Delivery/Freight charges. I believe that the Base Model 2012 Kia Rio5, “Canadian” version includes as standard equipment, Fog Lamps, Center Console w /Storage and Armrest, Cruise/Speed Control, an Active Eco Switch, (only standard on U.S. EX an SX Models), not “LX”, and Heated Exterior Mirrors and or Seats? Is there that much of a price difference considering the weak US Dollar against the Canadian Dollar to “de-content” the U.S. Kia`s? Just saying…..Still, reasonably happy with my purchase but I need an aftermarket Center Console w/Storage and Armrest like Kia offers for its 2012 thru 2012 Soul or that Boomerang Industries manufactured last year for the 2011 Ford Fiesta which (also) was missing that feature.

  3. Oh, almost forgot my last peeve. No DRL`s, Daytime Running Lights for the U.S. Kia`s. Forget about the more expensive LED`s, what about just a lower output electrical module to illuminate either a positioning light in the Head Lamp cluster, (there is already an empty slot for it) or a reduced intensity Low Beam Headlamp. Hyundai has put them on their Sonata`s and Elantra`s for 2 years now and are adding them to the Genesis, come on man….
