Kia Motors America has released information about pricing details on its striking Kia Forte Koup, which has started hitting the US Kia dealerships a few days ago. Pricing for the two-door Forte Koup, which is available in two trims including (EX and SX), starts at $16,595 (price excludes a $695 destination charge).

The 2010 Kia Forte Koup EX is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder gasoline engine that features Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and multi-port electronic fuel injection and generates 156-horsepower and 144 lb-ft. Transmission choices in the Forte Koup EX include a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox, while estimated fuel-economy for the EX model comes in at an estimated 25/34 mpg (city/highway).

Stepping up to the SX Forte Koup will cost you $17,695. The Forte Koup SX features an upgraded, 173 horsepower 2.4L four-cylinder engine under its hood and can be mated either to a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.

When paired with 6-speed manual transmission, the Koup achieves an economical 22/32 mpg (city/highway), while equipped with five-speed automatic transmission it offers 23/31 mpg.

Standard on all Forte Koups are Air conditioning, cruise control, tilt steering, 16-inch wheels, remote keyless entry and power windows, locks and mirrors, Bluetooth (for voice-activated hands-free phone connectivity) and a six-speaker audio system with controls built into the steering wheel.

The Forte Koup SX ads 17-inch wheels, fog lights, tilt and telescoping steering column, upgraded cloth seat covers, metal-finish trim and pedals, sport-tuned suspension. Available as an option on all trim levels are a sunroof worth $600 and a $1000 leather-trimmed interior with heated seats in front.

2010 Kia Forte Koup:

Type: Two-door coupe, front-wheel-drive

  1. and for you Canadians the base EX Koup starts at $18,495 and the SX Koup starts at $21,495, but the vehicles are not equipped the same as the US. For example the Canadian SX includes the sunroof and leather as standard. The EX sunroof is an $800 option. Also Canadian EX models have wiper de-icer, heated cloth seats and tilt and telescoping steering as standard. However, we only get a choice of 7 colours (all the same colours for either EX or SX) and black interior.

  2. Understated looks, in my opinion. I’ve seen the two versions with the two different wheels.

Both look great, but the red one up top here with those wheels looks GREAT in real life.

The car, like I said, looks understated in the way that it doesn’t roar up on you like a “out there” muscle car, but it has the muscular presence in the clean lines, and just the way it flows.

Sure, 173 HP isn’t going to knock your socks off, but you’re going to have a great time in this car, especially when you think of the price and all of what it inclues.

I’m from Canada and they’ve had them for a couple of weeks and they fit into the Kia lineup beautifully.

Great car. Great looks. Great warranty.

(The Soul is for me, but I can totally appreciate the Forte and the Koup.)

  3. If I wanted a Koup a red one of these would be the one. What an absolutely beautiful car. Oh, and absolutely no tuning would be necessary, straight from the factory she’d be fully completely equipped, no fuss, no muss, just some loud Foghat, Guess Who, Drive-By Truckers and Tragically Hip blasting from Koup speakers, and faux nirvana can and could be each and every one of yours yours.

  4. Chajee Pojee-tranny type doesn’t matter, the car does. You’ll enjoy your Koup with an automatic tranny. My ’08 Lancer GTS has an automatic tranny with CVT and titanium paddle shifters. The car is the main thing to enjoy overall…to me. Congrats on getting one of these beauties!

  5. i wish i could go buy one right now. i would get the blue or the white and i heard that they are actually working on a new engine with a turbo in it so it should be a really quick car.

  6. this is a gorgous that i woud love to have and soon i wil have it and the first time i seeen the commercial for the kia forte koup thats the day i fell in love with that car every thing about this car just excites me so im not that much money from just buying one straight off the lot and when I do im going to be the happiest person in the world.

  7. I’ve had the KIA Forte Sedan since 8/13/09 and absolutely love it. it’s safe and handles well in the snow (I experienced that this winter). I’d recommend it to anyone. Read the reviews – they’re great and all true.
